- A unique martial arts extraction action game where martial arts are temporarily borrowed by infusing them into herbal pills.
- Combat styles change based on elixirs, from swordsmanship to drunken boxing… Targeting a demo release in the first half of 2027
Domestic one-person development studio Cheolmyobang has released the Steam store page and trailer for its new martial arts PvE extraction action game , ‘Yakseonjeonki: Myeoljido (OMFG: The Fate of Mortals)’ .
‘Yakseonjeonki: Myeoljido’ is a martial arts game with a unique system where players become stronger by consuming elixirs. Breaking away from the traditional method of players permanently acquiring martial arts skills through direct training, the core gameplay element involves gathering herbs, crafting elixirs, and temporarily borrowing the martial arts skills contained within them.
A different martial art in a single pill; preparation before sortie is the battle style.
The core of the game is a system where the combat style changes completely depending on which elixirs you prepare.
Consuming a swordsmanship elixir enables swordsmanship utilizing sword energy, while consuming a staffsmanship elixir allows the use of staffs. Drinking alcohol also allows one to use Drunken Fist. The martial arts acquired in this way are not permanently accumulated by the character and can only be used while the elixir’s effects last.
Therefore, the process of deciding which elixirs to prepare before entering the battlefield is a crucial strategy that determines the success or failure of the battle. Depending on the user’s choice of elixirs, even the same character can dominate the battlefield in completely different ways.
The battlefield is newly generated every time you enter, and the terrain, loot, and enemy placement also change each time. Players must decide which items to take within limited weight and volume, and if they die during exploration, they will lose all items they were carrying.
It is a structure that combines martial arts action with the tension characteristic of the extraction genre: “Should I take more, or should I turn back now?”
After returning alive, prepare the next elixir in the village.
If you have returned safely from the battlefield, you must prepare for your next expedition at the village base. You will use acquired materials to set up a crafting table and expand storage facilities, while also crafting healing potions and manufacturing and maturing elixirs to use in the next expedition.
The game features a cyclical structure in which combat on the battlefield and maintenance in the village are repeated. Decisions regarding which materials to secure on the battlefield and what to craft in the village directly affect the survival probability of the next expedition.
Ultimately, not only instantaneous combat judgment but also pre-sortie preparation and thorough resource management become key strategies for survival.
Before martial arts had names… The story of the physician succeeding Shennong
The game is set in ancient times, when writing and martial arts had not yet been properly established.
Set in an ancient era when people were just beginning to learn how to fight by mimicking the movements of beasts and plants, the protagonist, an ordinary physician, succeeds Shennong, a legendary figure said to have tasted all kinds of herbs to record their properties.
From the perspective of a physician, the player explores herbs, creates elixirs, and fights using martial arts, experiencing the journey of a figure who would later be called the first immortal.
In particular, unlike typical martial arts games where established schools and martial arts systems exist, it stands out for being set in a primitive era before the very concept of martial arts was created.
The developer explains that through this, they are breaking away from the familiar martial arts worldview and presenting a unique worldview that connects the origins of martial arts with medicinal herbs and elixirs.
Attracting attention from domestic and international media immediately after announcement… Formal reviews yet to come
As the Steam page and trailer for ‘Yakseonjeonki: Myeoljido’ have just been released, there are currently no Steam user reviews or critic reviews.
However, interest is continuing overseas as well, with news being reported not only by domestic game media but also by Taiwan’s specialized game media outlet, Bahamut, immediately after the announcement.
In particular, the unique system of temporarily borrowing martial arts skills through elixirs and the attempt to integrate the extraction genre into the martial arts genre are cited as major points of interest.
Considering that it is a one-person development project, a significant amount of development time is expected before the official release. The developer plans to release a demo and continue development while checking user reactions.
‘Yakseonjeonki: Myeoljido’ is scheduled to be released on PC Steam, and the developer aims to release a demo in the first half of 2027. The official release is scheduled for 2028, and plans are in place to support Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
