- Deadline: Applications are open until March 26, 5:00 PM KST.
- Target: Small and medium-sized game developers based in Seoul.
- The Funding: Up to 40 million KRW in support across three specialized tracks, including a new “Generative AI” category.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Business Agency (SBA) have officially opened recruitment for the “2026 Game Content Commercialization Support Project.” Designed to level the playing field between indie studios and industry giants, this year’s initiative places a heavy emphasis on integrating cutting-edge AI technology into the development pipeline.
Bridging the Tech Gap: The New Generative AI Track
As major game corporations build dedicated AI divisions, smaller studios often find themselves at a disadvantage. To combat this, Seoul is introducing a specialized AI support track for the first time.
| Support Track | Companies | Funding | Primary Use Case |
| Generative AI Support | 5 | ~10M KRW | AI licenses (ChatGPT, Midjourney, GitHub Copilot) & consulting |
| Game Production Support | 4 | Up to 30M KRW | Labor costs for unreleased or in-development projects |
| Game Marketing Support | 4 | Up to 40M KRW | Global marketing, localization (translation), UA ads |
The AI track allows companies to purchase professional licenses for tools like ChatGPT (planning), Midjourney/Stable Diffusion (art), and GitHub Copilot (coding). This allows small teams to maintain high production quality with significantly fewer resources.
Proven Results: The Success of 2025
The 2026 program builds on the massive momentum generated last year. In 2025, the eight companies supported by the project reached a cumulative 4.5 million downloads.
Notable success stories include:
- $4 (Sadal-ler): Their title Guns Tower successfully signed with the French hyper-casual giant Voodoo, marking a major entry into the North American market.
- Grampus: Launched BTS Cooking On: TinyTan Restaurant in over 170 countries, leveraging the global BTS fandom.
- Super Planet: Successfully expanded into the Southeast Asian market with their webtoon-based hit Hard Leveling!.
A Hub for Growth: Seoul Game Content Center
Beyond direct funding, selected companies will be linked to the Seoul Game Content Center in Sangam-dong. This hub provides physical office space, networking opportunities, and support for attending international trade shows.
“Gaming is one of our most competitive export industries,” says Lee Soo-yeon, Director of the Seoul Economic Affairs Office. “By combining this sector with new technologies like AI, we are ensuring that Seoul’s small developers can stand as protagonists on the global stage.”
How to Apply:
Interested companies can submit their applications via the Official SBA Website before the March 26 deadline.
