    By Editorial Team2025년 02월 11일Updated:2025년 02월 18일4 Mins Read

Recruitment Open for the 2025 Game Content Development Support Program Until March 4

    • 219 billion KRW budget allocated for multi-year, emerging growth, and functional game projects
    • Up to three years of consecutive support for console games and the introduction of a new “growth stage” category for mobile games
    • Information session to be held on February 14 at the CKL Enterprise Support Center in Gwanghwamun

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA, Acting President Yoo Hyun-seok) have announced that applications for the “2025 Game Content Development Support Program” will be accepted until March 4.

This year’s program aims to support the commercialization of outstanding Korean games in the global market and is divided into three categories:

    • Multi-year support (PC, Console, Cross-platform)
    • Emerging growth support (New technologies, Mobile, Arcade, Board games)
    • Functional game support (Designated and Open categories)

A total of 76 projects will be selected, with a total funding allocation of 219 billion KRW.

Three Development Stages, Nine Categories of Tailored Support – Reflecting Industry Needs

The “Multi-Year Game Content Development Support” program has a total budget of 107 billion KRW, divided into three areas:

    • PC Games – Up to 400 million KRW per project
    • Console Games – Up to 200 million KRW in the first year, up to 400 million KRW in the second year, with an additional 200 million KRW for launch-stage projects
    • Cross-Platform (PC & Console) – Large-scale projects eligible for up to 800 million KRW, with an additional 400 million KRW for launch-stage projects in the following year

This year, KOCCA has restructured its support system based on industry feedback, particularly addressing the extended development time required for console games.

    • The console category has been expanded to allow up to three consecutive years of support.
    • A new “Platform Conversion & IP Utilization” category has been introduced, offering up to 300 million KRW in funding.

The “Emerging Growth Game Content Development Support” program has a total budget of 94 billion KRW and includes the following categories:

    • New Technologies (AI, VR, AR, Cloud-based games) – Up to 300 million KRW per project
    • Mobile Games – Up to 400 million KRW per project for development-stage games, and up to 200 million KRW for growth-stage games (new category) that are already in service
    • Arcade Games – Up to 200 million KRW per project
    • Board Games – Up to 80 million KRW per project

The “Functional Game Content Development Support” program has a budget of 18 billion KRW, supporting games that integrate entertainment with education, healthcare, or social contributions.

    • The Designated category includes social contribution, senior citizen, disability-friendly, and medical games.
    • The Open category is available for various functional game development projects. Each project is eligible for up to 300 million KRW in funding.

Focus Group Testing, Overseas Expansion, and Industry Support

Selected game projects will undergo Focus Group Testing (FGT) with domestic and international players and industry experts, providing valuable pre-release evaluations and error detection to enhance quality before launch.

Additionally, to enhance global competitiveness for K-games, KOCCA will integrate this support program with:

    • Major international gaming markets (ChinaJoy, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show)
    • The “Game Plus” Business Initiative
    • Investment and financing support for game commercialization

    Information Session on February 14

An information session for the “Game Content Development Support Program” will be held on February 14 at the CKL Enterprise Support Center in Gwanghwamun.

    • The session will cover game content development, indie game support, the “Game Plus” program, and application guidelines.
    • A Q&A session will be included for on-site inquiries.

    How to Apply

For detailed information and application guidelines, visit:
