PlayStation’s picks for “10 gem-like indie games that will shine in 2026.”

        By Editorial Team2026년 02월 28일4 Mins Read

While 2026 is chock-full of anticipated titles like GTA VI and Ghost of Yotei, the PlayStation 5 platform is also a hotbed of indie games brimming with unique ideas and concepts. The official PlayStation blog has selected 10 indie titles that span a wide range of genres, sensibilities, and playstyles, each with their own distinct personality. From relaxing adventures to roguelike action and cooperative puzzle adventures , these are some must-play indie masterpieces for PS5 gamers.

☕ Coffee Talk Tokyo | Scheduled for May 21st

Set in a Tokyo café, this emotional adventure game challenges players to share a cup of coffee with supernatural guests, including yokai, and listen to their stories. Players listen to their concerns and stories, then craft and serve them a drink that perfectly suits their needs. Developed by Chorus Worldwide, this installment maintains the warm and gentle atmosphere of the “Coffee Talk” series. It’s structured as a standalone episode, making it accessible even without prior experience.

🌊 Fishbowl | Coming in April

This emotional visual novel from the two-person developer imissmyfriends tells a coming-of-age story of grief and self-discovery. The game follows the protagonist over the course of a month, exploring his inner self through puzzle elements involving sorting and organizing objects. Despite its small scale, the game is gaining traction through word-of-mouth for its profound impact.

        🧙‍♀️ Hela | Scheduled for 2026

This 3D co-op adventure game developed by Windup. Set in a world inspired by the natural landscapes of Scandinavia, players become a mouse familiar who helps an ailing witch. Craft healing potions, help villagers, and embark on a heartwarming adventure. It supports local split-screen and online co-op. Contrary to the dark imagery of Norse mythology, the game features a bright and cheerful atmosphere.

🛍️ Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories | Coming in April

This is a lyrical adventure game set in early 1990s Japan. You work at a small-town convenience store, greeting customers, performing daily tasks, and discovering their stories through conversation. The story changes depending on your choices. However, the game does not support Korean.

⚔️ Mortal Shell II | Scheduled for 2026

This hardcore action RPG stands out in a lineup of cozy-centric titles. A sequel to Cold Symmetry’s previous game, it features a standalone story but retains the same ruthless combat and dark, menacing world. The stamina gauge has been removed for a faster combat tempo, and new weapons like the shotgun and repeating crossbow have been added.

🔫 Mouse PI for Hire | Released April 17th

This first-person shooter recreates the classic comic book style of the 1930s. Developed by Fumi Games, it combines a detective noir story with brisk action shooting. Its unique atmosphere is characterized by a blend of jazz music, machine gun sounds, and gritty narration.

🧙 Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse | Released March 5th (PS4·PS5)

This 2D exploration action roguelike game uses a magic hat to possess enemies and unleash their powers. Explore diverse locations, including ruins and botanical gardens, and rebuild a ruined village. Multiplayer support for up to four players is available, but Korean is not available.

        🌕 Ontos | Scheduled for 2026

Frictional Games presents a narrative-driven sci-fi adventure. A spiritual successor to “SOMA,” it explores the secrets of a failed mining colony set on a desolate lunar base. Resource management, machine operation, and moral choices are crucial, with decisions that can have irreversible consequences.

🎭 Out of Words | Coming in 2026

This cooperative platform adventure game is crafted with stop-motion techniques and hand-drawn visuals. It follows Kurt and Karla, two protagonists who have lost their voices, on a journey to regain them. Together, they overcome challenges using puzzles and environmental elements, experiencing a heartwarming story of friendship and love.

🚙 Over the Hill | Scheduled for 2026

This exploration-focused driving game is brought to you by Funselektor Labs and Strelka Games, known for their “art of rally.” The game focuses on navigating nature amidst dynamic weather and day-night cycles. It focuses on discovery and leisure rather than speed, and supports up to three-player cooperative play.

These indie games, boasting a level of completion and individuality comparable to major titles, are expected to inject yet another burst of energy into the PlayStation ecosystem in 2026.

Unfamiliar yet fresh worlds, experimental gameplay, and stories imbued with the artist’s unique style. This year, some of the most memorable moments on PS5 may come from these “small but solid” indie titles.
