- Exceeding 570,000 Demo Players and 700,000 Wishlist Items… Official Release Confirmed Following Free Demo Success
- From range calculation to aiming, loading, and firing… A unique turret operation simulation capturing analog sensibilities
A unique simulation game where you directly control a massive turret to destroy enemies is set for official release. ‘Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator,’ an indie turret simulator created by a two-person development team based in Europe, will be officially released on Steam on August 6.
The game achieved exceptional success for an indie title, with the free demo released on June 15 receiving a response beyond expectations. Approximately 575,000 people played the demo, and the full version surpassed 700,000 items on Steam wishlists even before its release. Additionally, it garnered around 6,000 user reviews and recorded an average playtime of over 3 hours, proving its high level of immersion.

The game is set in a fictional historical world modeled after Spain in the late 1920s. Players take on the role of an operator of a massive turret, performing a series of actions such as calculating range on the map, aiming the gun barrel using hydraulics, and manually loading and firing shells. While the controls may appear simple, the game’s core appeal lies in its precise, analog-style controls and substantial, tactile feel.
Nick Talmers and Dominic Latos, who led the development, stated, “We have finally brought to life in the game the massive spider-like turret we have been conceptualizing for over 10 years.” The work was inspired by 1990s animation and the classic game ‘Cannon Father,’ and the developers incorporated their actual artillery and engineering knowledge into the game system to enhance realism.
The content is diverse and well-organized. It features procedurally generated missions, 8 challenge modes, 30 types of ammunition, 20 abilities, and 15 exploration areas, and also supports online leaderboards and storytelling elements presented in a newspaper format.
The PC specifications are also relatively low-burden. The minimum requirements are an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX-8350 with 4GB of memory, while the recommended specifications allow for smooth gameplay with a GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) and about 8GB of memory.

The promotional strategy also actively leveraged the game’s worldview. The developers referred to players as “Operators” and themselves as “High Command,” releasing promotional materials based on a concept that presented wishlists and gameplay statistics in the format of actual military operation briefings. This unique marketing, which captures the game’s distinctive atmosphere, is attracting the attention of users.
Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator is scheduled for official release on Steam on August 6, and a free demo is currently available to play on Steam.
