Com2uS Holdings and KOCCA Join Forces to Accelerate Indie Game Development in Korea

컴투스가 보유한 글로벌 역량 바탕으로 민관 협력 생태계 구축
    By 인디게임닷컴 편집부2025년 12월 05일4 Mins Read

Com2uS Holdings has entered into a strategic partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to strengthen Korea’s indie game ecosystem. On December 4, the two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a public–private cooperative support framework, officially naming Com2uS Holdings as a leading partner for KOCCA’s 2026 Indie Game Support Program.

Through this agreement, the two parties will form and operate an Indie Game Development Council and jointly implement various programs aimed at discovering promising indie titles and supporting their global market expansion.

A Longstanding Commitment to Indie Game Support

Com2uS Holdings has been actively contributing to the growth of the indie ecosystem for years.
In May 2024, its subsidiary Com2uS Platform served as a sponsor for Korea’s major indie competition IndieCraft, offering top finalists full access to its global game backend platform, Hive.

Hive is a globally specialized service platform built on the Com2uS Group’s decades of live service expertise. Used by over 45 partner companies and more than 150 games—with an annual active user base of 100 million—it offers login services, payments, cross-platform support, compliance, analytics, and more. The platform enables indie developers to focus solely on content creation without the burden of backend development and operations.

In April 2024, Com2uS Holdings was also selected to operate Gyeonggi Content Agency’s Global Game Center Commercialization and Support Program, further accelerating the overseas expansion of Korean game studios.

A KRW 10 Billion “Game Challenge” to Discover New Hits

To uncover innovative concepts and talented teams, Com2uS Holdings launched a KRW 10 billion Game Challenge, a global competition open to all genres and platforms. Even prototype-stage projects were eligible, with up to 10 titles selected for full global publishing support.

The competition’s first winner, “Udangtang Runners,” has already signed a global publishing deal and is preparing for release. The 4v4 lane-racing game blends automated gameplay with strategic character management. A second round of the Game Challenge is planned to expand the search for original and creative games.

In addition, the company hosts the annual “COM: ON” Global Game Development Contest, identifying future game talent and providing winners with free Hive services, developer mentorship, and hiring benefits.

Global Publishing Power as a Key Competency

Com2uS Holdings’ greatest strength lies in its proven global publishing capabilities.

The flagship title Summoners War: Sky Arena has surpassed $3 billion in lifetime revenue, serving more than 170 countries since 2014. With overseas sales accounting for 90%—including 32% in North America and 21% in Europe—the game is one of the most globally successful Korean IPs ever.

This success is rooted in the group’s early and aggressive global expansion strategy. Com2uS was the first Korean game company to establish a U.S. office in 2005, and has since implemented multilingual support, global esports events (SWC), and region-specific marketing campaigns to build a massive worldwide fandom.

Its successor title, Summoners War: Chronicle, surpassed KRW 50 billion in revenue within 54 days of global launch, ranking No.1 on Steam in France and entering the top 10 of the French and German App Store charts—markets known to be challenging for MMORPGs.

A Diversified Publishing Portfolio for Full-Spectrum Support

Since 2024, Com2uS Holdings has expanded its publishing business with a diverse lineup including:

    • Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice
    • Gods & Demons
    • The Starlight
    • Fatal Claw
…with more than 10 titles across mobile, PC, and console platforms.

Powered by Hive, which connects over 100 million annual global users, Com2uS provides operational infrastructure, cross-regional marketing, and platform expansion support.
Its game-specialized cloud service GCloud further reduces technical burdens for developers, enabling a complete one-stop pipeline from development to global distribution.

A New Model for Indie Game Growth

The partnership between KOCCA and Com2uS Holdings represents a new model where the global expertise of a private company meets the structured support of a public institution.

Com2uS Holdings offers not only financial support but also:

    • Global launch infrastructure
    • Localization and cultural adaptation expertise
    • Regional marketing networks
    • Proven live-service know-how

Its demonstrated ability to penetrate Western markets—backed by the success of Summoners War—may become a significant competitive advantage for Korean indie titles seeking to expand beyond Asia.

    A Com2uS Holdings representative commented:
“We aim to support talented developers in bringing fun, distinctive games to the global stage. By leveraging our publishing capabilities, we will help promising indie projects succeed worldwide.”

As Korea’s indie game industry continues to grow, the collaboration between Com2uS Holdings and KOCCA is expected to serve as a major catalyst for elevating Korean indie titles to global prominence.
