    KOCCA promotes K-Indie games globally via ‘Bit Summit 2024’

    ◆ 56 indie games participating in GLS were introduced in conjunction with the Japanese indie game exhibition Bit Summit.

    The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (President Cho, from now on referred to as KOCCA) will participate in ‘BitSummit 2024’, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan, for three days from the 19th to the 21st to promote Korea’s excellent indie games. They announced that they will operate a ‘Game Level Up Showcase (from now on referred to as GLS)’ booth.

    Bit Summit, which started in 2013, is a global indie game exhibition attended by more than 20,000 visitors yearly. Last year, 167 companies and 24,000 visitors visited, making it a place for global gamers and industry officials to meet and communicate.

    ◆ Introduction of 56 indie games participating in GLS, including and

    KOCCA introduces GLS entries through booth operation at this event. GLS is a game planning support project of KOCCA to promote excellent Korean indie games and is an opportunity to evaluate new indie games in the ▲startup ▲preliminary business sector.

    This year, the GLS booth will showcase 56 indie games, including 50 GLS 2023 entries and 6 out of 46 GLS 2024 entries. The selected GLS 2024 entries are ▲Gino Games ▲Sun Games ▲Odyssey ▲Studio Dudal ▲Code Name Spring ▲Adelie Penguin, etc.

    In addition to indie game exhibitions and experiences, we plan to actively promote K-indie games through on-site events such as game experience certification events and Steam wish list addition events. They will also participate in the official stage program of the event, which will be streamed online, and will have time to demonstrate and introduce indie games directly.

    ◆ One-stop support for K-Indie game commercialization program through game planning support project

    Meanwhile, through its game planning support project, KOCCA supports various commercialization programs across the entire process, including support for producing indie games, consulting, exhibition participation, and networking.

    Starting with the GLS booth at this Bit Summit, we will commercialize domestic indie games with excellent ideas and appeal in connection with game-related events, including the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC Festival 2024) in August, G-STAR in November, and the showcase in December. We plan to continue supporting promotion and promotion.
