Busan Metropolitan City, a game city (Mayor Park Hyung-joon), Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Kim Tae-yeol), and Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (Organizing Committee Chairman Joo Seong-pil, hereinafter BIC Organizing Committee) officially announced the opening of the online festival of ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival 2025 (hereinafter BIC 2025)’ on Friday, August 8.
This year’s online festival will run for three weeks, from August 8th to 29th, via the BIC official website (bicfest.org). It will feature an online exhibition space where visitors can play over 250 indie games from Korea and abroad without restriction. With a single ticket, visitors can access and enjoy the games freely at any time during the event, offering the most in-depth experience possible with indie games, free from time and location constraints.
The exhibits are divided into Rookie, General, Connect, Public, Sponsor, and Partner categories, reflecting a diverse developer spectrum, from individual creators to works from global platform companies. Some entries are exclusive online games, available exclusively at the online festival. Furthermore, visitors can revisit titles missed at the offline festival, allowing for a seamless viewing experience between the two festivals.
During the BIC 2025 Online Festival, visitors will be able to leave feedback directly to developers after playing the exhibited games. Furthermore, weekly interactive events, such as social media verification and exhibit recommendation, will be held for online festival ticket holders. Beyond simply viewing, the structure that allows visitors to contribute a tangible voice to game development is BIC Online’s most significant differentiator.
Joo Sung-pil, BIC Organizing Committee Chairman, said, “The online festival is an open window for anyone around the world to experience indie games. I hope this will provide an opportunity for attendees and overseas gamers who were unable to attend offline to experience BIC. This online-centric approach will be a crucial stepping stone to broadening the indie game ecosystem.”
Kim Tae-yeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, said, “The BIC Online Festival is a venue where audiences and developers can communicate directly and work together to complete games. We will continue to support this growing exchange, fostering a closer connection between developers and users.”
BIC Online Festival tickets can be purchased on the official BIC website (bicfest.org), and can be accessed and viewed freely at any time during the reservation period.
