Korea Content Promotion Agency to Hold ‘2024 Global Game Hub Center Networking Day’

    By 인디게임닷컴 편집부2024년 12월 13일Updated:2024년 12월 16일3 Mins Read
    • Demo Day, performance presentation, networking, etc. An event to find ways to cooperate among industry professionals. Held on the 11th
    • Six Global Game Hub Center teams pitched and achieved concrete cooperation discussions with investors.
    • Recruitment of new tenants for the Global Game Hub Center for small and medium-sized, prospective, and early-stage developers in the first half of next year

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (Acting President Yoo Hyeon-seok, hereinafter referred to as KOCCA) successfully held the ‘2024 Global Game Hub Center Networking Day’ at the Global Game Hub Center located in Pangyo-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 11th.

The Global Game Hub Center opened in 2009 and is Korea’s representative in-house support facility specializing in the game genre. This event was designed to be a place for various game industry professionals, including small and medium-sized game developers, publishers, and investors, to participate and explore ways to exchange and cooperate through ▲Demo Day ▲Presentation of Excellent Results ▲, Networking Reception, etc.

◆ six companies pitching and presenting their excellence, laying the foundation for attracting investment through networking

At the first Demo Day, ▲36liters ▲Springsoft ▲Entriple ▲Odyssey ▲Alien Kidnapping Operation ▲Capers, six companies from the Global Game Hub Center made investment pitches in front of a panel of judges consisting of publishers and investors. Each company appealed for its technological differentiation and market entry potential, and some companies achieved results in discussing specific cooperation with investors.

In the Excellence Achievement Presentation, ▲Wonder Potion, an indie game developer and a resident company of the center, shared the behind-the-scenes story of the production of its representative Korean-style cyberpunk 2D action game and its strategic approach to success in the global market. ▲Nerdy Star, another resident company, introduced cases of applying AI and machine learning technology in games to improve productivity and reduce costs under the theme ‘All About AI Utilization Cases.’

The final event, a networking reception, allowed around 100 game industry professionals, including resident companies, graduates, investors, and publishers, to exchange ideas and discuss cooperation plans.

Kim Nam-Geol, head of the Game Technology Division at KOCCA, said, “This networking day is an event to provide small and medium-sized K-game developers with an opportunity to develop global competitiveness and to examine the possibility of practical investment connections,” adding, “We plan to support various programs so that we can actively cooperate with those in the game industry in the future.”

Meanwhile, KOCCA plans to recruit new companies to move into the Global Game Hub Center in the first half of next year. The recruitment target is small and medium-sized game developers and game developers in the preliminary and early stages (founded less than 5 years ago). Selected companies will receive rent and management fee support, investment attraction and consulting, development software support, and test bed support.
