KOCCA holds the ‘2023 Korea Game Jam’…recruit participants until the 21st of this month

    By Editorial Team2023년 07월 05일4 Mins Read

    – Recruitment of 80 people in the fields of planning, programming, and art, targeting those aged 20 to 30 who dream of developing future game developers
    – Fostering next-generation game industry talent and promoting individual competency enhancement through game development job experience
    – Formation of mentors by sector to share job competency improvement directions, practical know-how, industry prospects, and career paths

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Bo-gyun), the Korea Creative Content Agency (Director Cho Hyun-rae, from now on referred to as KOCCA), and the Korea Game Industry Association (Chairman Kang Shin-Cheol) hold the ‘2023 Korea Game Jam’ to foster core talent in the game industry and invite participants until the 21st. recruit

‘Game Jam,’ which celebrated its 8th anniversary this year, is an event in which talented people in various fields, such as planning, development, design, and sound, work together to create games in the prototype stage within a set time. It was designed to inspire the young generation’s challenging spirit for fun, experience game development duties performed in the field, and promote growth as future game developers.

◆ Recruitment of 80 young people between the ages of 20 and 30.. Participated as sponsors such as Pearl Abyss

Unlike last year, aimed at teenagers, this year’s event provides opportunities for a wide range of age groups to participate, from 2004 to 1994. From the 11th of next month, 80 game industry talents will gather at Gyeonggi Game Meister High School for a three-day, two-night journey.

Participation from inside and outside the industry to nurture next-generation game talent is also noteworthy. ▲Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee (Chairman Seo Tae-gun) and ▲Pearl Abyss (CEO Heo Jin-young) participate as sponsors, and ▲UNESCO International Memory of the World Center (Chairman Gu Man-seop) plans to creatively utilize game development and world memory heritage by converging them. I came to this event to publicize.

◆ Game development through team projects enhances job understanding in each field

Recruitment areas include: ▲ 16 people from the planning job group that oversees the overall direction, such as game concept and worldview ▲ 16 people from the programming job group that handles development programs, such as coding ▲ 48 people from the art job group in charge of graphics,, and music such as backgrounds, avatars, icons, BGM, and sound effects divided into

Participants can form a team by occupational group and participate in a project to develop a game together. In the process, they can increase their understanding of the job duties performed in the field. There is also a time to demonstrate and evaluate the games the participants developed so they can share their work with their colleagues and self-examine.

◆ Providing mentor services and convenience facilities to enhance creativity

KOCCA operates a mentor group composed of incumbent professors during the event to enhance participants’ creativity and expand their horizons in the game industry. They plan to suggest improvements based on their own experiences in the game development process and give advice on the future and career path of the game industry.

Various convenient facilities are also provided at the venue so participants can focus on game development in a comfortable atmosphere. Typical examples include a food zone with snacks and food and a refresh zone where you can take a break with a one-person tent and an air mattress. In addition, ten people from the two teams that won the grand and grand prizes at this event will be supported with viewing, lodging, and dinner at the global indie game festival ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival.’ In addition to this, various prizes will be awarded through multiple awards.

Kim Seong-Joon, head of KOCCA’s Game Division, said, “Through this event, I hope you can enjoy the sense of accomplishment in making your own game and the joy of being with colleagues pursuing their dreams.” I will,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Korea Game Jam applications can be made through the KOCCA website (www.kocca.kr), Facebook, and Instagram. For details, contact the official Game Jam Facebook page or the operation office (070-4162-7141).
