Unity Competition ‘MWU Korea Award 2023’, Application Started

    By Editorial Team2023년 07월 03일Updated:2023년 07월 04일3 Mins Read

Unity Korea (now referred to as Unity) announced that it will start accepting submissions for the ‘Made with Unity Korea Awards 2023 (from now on referred to as MWU Korea Awards 2023)’, a content contest for Unity creators in Korea.

The MWU Korea Awards, which started in 2017 and celebrated its 7th anniversary this year, were designed to discover and support creators by selecting excellent content based on the Unity engine. The MWU Korea Awards 2022, which was held last year, successfully concluded the event, proving the high interest of creators, such as a 55% increase in the number of entries compared to the previous year.

The MWU Korea Awards 2023 are divided into two categories: game and industry. ▲Graphics ▲Monetization ▲Student work ▲Innovation ▲PC&Console ▲Immersion (VR/AR/XR/MR) in the game sector, ▲Visualization ▲Simulation ▲Immersion (VR/AR/XR/MR) ▲Media in the industry sector Applications for a total of 12 categories including & Entertainment, ▲ Expected Works, and ▲ Student Works will be accepted.

Any Unity creator residing in Korea can participate in the MWU Korea Award 2023, and it is for content being produced or completed based on the Unity engine or content being serviced or scheduled to be serviced in Korea. Only content launched or serviced after 2022 can be submitted for content that has been produced, and non-awarded works among the content that participated in last year’s awards can also be presented again. Games in production may only submit content that has a viable build or can be demonstrated.

Submissions will be accepted for two months until August 31st. During the early bird application period until July 31st, ‘Summer Night Unity’ sets will be provided to the first 100 studios on a first-come, first-served basis. The set consists of a portable lantern, a portable fan, a picnic mat, and a folding box that can be used on summer vacations.

The award will select the Top 36 through a strict evaluation by Unity’s professional jury, and then select the grand prize in 12 categories and the best work in each field through online public voting and announce it in October. In addition, through the special award ‘Unity Pick’, the ‘Best Indie’ award is given to excellent indie works, and the ‘Best Social Impact’ award is given to projects that positively impact society, respectively. Will be presented

Unity will pay 5 million won each for the best works (two) in each game and industry category, and 1 million won each for the first prize (12 results) as prize money. Dividends of 2 million won each will be awarded to the winners of the Special Prize. Creators selected as winners will receive various benefits, from technical consulting by Unity experts to publicity through Unity’s official channels. In particular, creators chosen as the best work in the industry category at this award will be privileged to provide a promotional booth at the Unity APAC Industry Summit 2023 event in Seoul in October.

“The MWU Korea Award has shown growth every year and has become one of the most noteworthy contests in the creator industry,” said Kim Bo-young, head of Unity Korea. We ask for your interest and participation as we plan to provide it.”
