The player embarks on an adventure as a young warrior who believed in the Orisha gods and the legends of the ancient world. As time passes and the myths fade from people’s memories, the legendary beings also become corrupted and begin to disrupt the balance of the world.
The protagonist must travel through dreamlike landscapes to reconnect with divine powers and uncover the reason why the myths have run wild. The goal of the journey is to borrow the power of the Orisha gods to fight against corrupted spirits and twisted monsters, and to restore balance and the stories disappearing from the world.
The demo version of ‘Talaka’, currently available for free on Steam, is set in the game’s first world. Players battle unique monsters and powerful bosses that seem to have stepped right out of mythology, and can personally test various weapon combinations and mysterious abilities.
Fast combat and over 150 weapon and ability combinations
‘Talaka’ combines fast-paced action combat with a roguelite structure. With different challenges awaiting every time, players must utilize dodging and parrying to face corrupted spirits and monsters. The combat experience varies depending on how god-blessed weapons and skills are combined.
The development team introduced that it offers over 150 combinations of weapons and skills. You will face off against beings from forgotten legends while learning enemy attack patterns using abilities acquired in combat.
A world unfolding like a watercolor painting
The game’s setting is rendered in a hand-drawn watercolor style. You can explore distinct regions, including the arid Sertão, the vast Pantanal wetlands, the streets of São Paulo, and the dreamlike, dark Orun.
The newly released screenshots feature new regions, creatures inspired by African and Brazilian mythology, weapons for players to use, and mysterious abilities. The development team stated that this demo update allows Steam Next Fest attendees to experience the game’s world and combat in greater detail.
Participating in Steam Next Fest after demo update
The ‘Talaka’ demo is currently available on Steam and will also be playable during Steam Next Fest, which runs from October 19 to 26.
“I am pleased that players are showing interest in the game’s world, unique character designs, and the African and Brazilian culture and mythology underlying them,” said Marc Anthony Rodriguez, Head of Publishing and Strategic Partnerships at Acclaim. “Steam Next Fest is a great opportunity to experience the game’s artistic appeal before the official adventure begins.”
‘Talaka’, which is garnering attention for its unique cultural inspiration and emotional visuals, is scheduled for official release on Steam (PC) and console platforms in early 2027 .
