- Japanese Solo Developer Unveils Travel-Based Collectible Solitaire Game Spanning 34 Cities
- New Klondike Works Capturing 12 Korean Cities Including Seoul and Busan in Watercolor
Japanese solo developer oneWheat (Shunichi Kondo) released “Solitaire World Tour,” a Klondike solitaire game combining travel and collection elements, for free on the App Store on September 19.
‘Solitaire World Tour’ is a game where you play solitaire while traveling through a total of 34 cities, including 12 Korean cities: Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju, Jeonju, Suwon, Andong, Suncheon, Tongyeong, Gangneung, Chuncheon, Gongju/Buyeo, and Jeju Island. The game is characterized by its watercolor-style depiction of the scenery of each city.
A journey of advancing one step at a time in Solitaire
‘Solitaire World Tour’ is a casual card game that adds travel and collection elements to the familiar Klondike Solitaire rules.
Every time you clear a level, you can obtain coins along with trivia about the city you are currently staying in. If you continue playing in the same city, you can purchase postcards of that city. A stamp commemorating your visit is placed in your passport.
The collected coins can be used to purchase airline tickets. You can travel to your next desired city by selecting it on the world map, and the further the destination, the higher the cost of the ticket.
The game can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace without timers or competitive scoring elements. Hints and undo functions are provided for free with no usage limits, and auto-complete is also supported. All features are available offline, and you can pause the game at any time and resume playing.
34 Cities, A World Tour Captured in Watercolor
The background of the game screen consists of the scenery of the city where the player is currently staying. The appearances of 34 cities, including Japan and Korea, are all depicted in a watercolor style.
In Korea, you can find 12 regions including Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju, Jeonju, Suwon, Andong, Suncheon, Tongyeong, Gangneung, Chuncheon, Gongju/Buyeo, and Jeju Island. The remaining 22 cities are located in Japan, and the starting city of the game is Tokyo.
The cities visited are recorded on a world map, and the route traveled so far is displayed on the map as an airplane trajectory.
In each city, you can check trivia related to the region whenever you clear Solitaire. There are 10 pieces of trivia prepared for each city, totaling 340, consisting of 680 sentences based on Japanese and English.
According to the press kit released by the developer, the cityscapes and postcard images were created using image generation technology.
OneWhit, a solo developer handling both development and distribution
‘Solitaire World Tour’ is a game in which Japanese solo developer Won Wheat took charge of everything from development to distribution.
The developer began accepting pre-orders on the App Store on September 2 and officially launched the game on September 19. The game is free to play and includes advertisements, but does not support in-app purchases.
12 Korean cities appear, but Korean is not supported.
One notable aspect of this release is that while 12 Korean cities appear as major travel destinations in the game, the Korean language is not supported.
Currently, only two languages are supported: Japanese and English. The images and video materials released by the developer were also created based on the English version, and the press kit page is provided only in Japanese and English.
