- Developed by Canadian indie studio Blindspot Games, scheduled for Steam release on September 10.
- 1v1 turn-based strategic battles taking place at Hexagon Arena, final playtest until the 18th
Blindspot Games, an indie developer based in Montreal, Canada, has confirmed the release date for its new turn-based strategy game ‘Infinity: HexaDome Tactics’ as September 10 and revealed the final pre-release playtest.
‘Infinity: Hexadome Tactics’ is a 1v1 turn-based arena strategy game based on the universe of the miniature board game ‘Infinity’ by the Spanish game company Corvus Belli, which has a history of over 20 years. Players command a team of champions on a battlefield composed of a hexagonal grid to engage in battle against opponents.
The game features dazzling and colorful visuals with a futuristic atmosphere, and is characterized by combat that requires strategic judgment beyond simply eliminating enemies.
The brutal sports show of the future, ‘Hexadome’
The biggest feature of ‘Infinity: Hexadome Tactics’ is that you cannot win simply by defeating all opponents.
Players must occupy key areas of the battlefield and achieve objectives set by the match sponsors, while interacting with the audience to gain an advantage in combat. The key is to create the optimal sequence of actions at critical moments by combining various elements, including positioning and cover, as well as traps, surveillance, attacks, and tactical cards.
The developers describe this gameplay as the “most brutal sports spectacle of the future.” It is characterized by capturing deadly clashes between small champion teams and the pressure to score within a fast-paced match.
It is also attracting attention as the first PC game based on the ‘Infinity’ universe.
Strategic battles unfolding in 3 types of arenas
The official release version will feature a total of three arenas. In addition to the Training Arena, which serves as a tutorial, arenas themed after PanOceania and Haqqislam, the major factions of the ‘Infinity’ universe will be available.
The newly revealed Hockeyslam Arena in this playtest is designed to encourage more strategic combat by featuring a total of seven capture zones. Both the Training Arena and Hockeyslam Arena support two modes: a fast-paced combat mode utilizing three zones and a strategic combat mode utilizing seven zones.
(During combat, you can secure additional resources by achieving sub-objectives presented by match sponsors or by eliciting a response from the audience. This allows you to employ various strategies, such as acquiring tactical cards and turning the tide of battle.)
15-person indie studio, Blindspot Games
Blindspot Games, a 15-person indie game studio in Montreal, Canada, is a development company founded by industry veterans who joined forces. Taking advantage of the small team’s characteristics, it features an independent and organic development environment where every member can exert direct influence on the final product.
‘Infinity: Hexadome Tactics’ was developed based on Corvus Bell’s tabletop IP ‘Infinity’ and the figure game ‘Aristeia!’.
The Steam page indicates that Blindspot Games is responsible for both development and publishing. However, some press releases mention Polden Publishing as the publisher, so further verification is needed regarding the actual publishing structure.
Final playtest conducted ahead of release
Following the release of a free demo last December, the development team has been conducting a closed beta test for content creators and key community members since early this year. This test is the final public playtest ahead of the official launch.
While anticipation for the new build and content continues within the community, opinions are divided among some users regarding the direction of the character design.
Language support is also worth noting. The official release version is scheduled to support interfaces and subtitles in a total of 12 languages, including Korean, and supports English and French audio.
Get a sneak peek at 8 champions and the PvE campaign
This playtest will run from August 11 to 18. Participants can preview eight playable champions, the entire Act 1 of the PvE campaign, competitive PvP modes, the new Haqqislam Arena, and more.
The official release version will feature a story campaign consisting of a total of 12 champions and 4 acts. Additionally, a system will be implemented where players can acquire loot through combat and use it to connect to new stories and content.
‘Infinity: Hexadome Tactics’ will be officially released on PC Steam on September 10.
