Every kid knows the deal: do something great, and maybe the grown-ups will finally notice you. In Come to my Party!, the deal is explicit. If ten-year-old Jimin becomes class president, her mother will throw her a birthday party. Published by LINE Games and developed solo by SIMSANG YOON, this black-comedy visual novel set in a Korean elementary school in 1999 releases its new Demo 2.0 on October 16.
The game will appear at The MIX Fall Showcase, an online global showcase, on the same day the demo launches, then join Steam Next Fest from October 19 to 26 as it builds toward release.
Set at the turn of the millennium in Korea, it follows Jimin’s coming-of-age story, using warm, detailed pixel art to recreate the period’s scenery and its distinctive cast of characters.

A Mother’s Promise
Jimin is a ten-year-old girl attending elementary school in Korea in 1999. She wears her older sister’s hand-me-downs and shares her meals, rarely noticed between a high-achieving older sister and a younger sibling who soaks up all the attention.
One day, her mother promises that if Jimin becomes class president, she will throw her a birthday party. Seeing her first chance to have something truly her own, Jimin launches a campaign to win over her classmates.
Players guide Jimin’s choices as she makes friends and navigates the relationships and conflicts of the classroom. The closer she gets to her classmates, the more their own hidden stories come to light.
12 Endings and ’90s Mini-Games
Player choices shape Jimin’s friendships, conversations, and the story’s outcome. The developer has prepared 12 endings, and whether Jimin gets her birthday party at all depends on those choices.
Mini-games capture school life. Earlier previews showed playing ttakji (a Korean paper-tile flipping game) with friends and defacing a rival K-pop group’s poster. Hands-on impressions of the earlier demo from international outlets also mentioned mini-games such as washing your face, tidying the cleaning closet, and dusting chalkboard erasers.
The story deals with everyday school rumors and family pressure. The developer says classmates, including Eunji and Daeun, each carry their own circumstances and stories.
Heavy Themes Behind the Laughter
Come to my Party! pairs childlike humor with the complicated emotions that arise in family and friendships. Some international outlets that played the earlier demo said the game starts off light but leaves a lingering ache.
The Steam page carries content warnings for domestic violence, corporal punishment by teachers, bullying, and suicide. Because these themes are part of the story, players should check them before playing.
A Debut From a Veteran Illustrator
SIMSANG YOON handles development. According to the developer, he spent more than ten years in visual art and commercial illustration before turning to games, collaborating with companies including SM Entertainment, Lotte, Kakao, Devsisters, and HYBE. Come to my Party! is his first game.
The developer says he created the game’s art and storytelling himself and did not use AI-generated content. Publisher LINE Games, announcing Demo 2.0 on October 12, said the update refines story presentation and dialogue based on player feedback and adjusts mini-game difficulty and quality-of-life features.
Who This Is For
Strong fit for: players who love narrative-driven visual novels with branching endings; anyone nostalgic for late-’90s Korean school life; fans of black comedy that carries real emotional weight; players who value fully hand-made art and writing.
Cautious fit for: players sensitive to the themes listed in the content warnings, including domestic violence, corporal punishment, bullying, and suicide; anyone expecting a purely lighthearted school comedy.
Less ideal for: players seeking action or systems-heavy gameplay.
The Takeaway
Come to my Party! turns a small childhood bargain, a birthday party in exchange for winning a class election, into a story about being overlooked, wanting to matter, and the hard things children carry quietly. Its detailed pixel art, ’90s Korean school setting, 12 endings, and an illustrator’s hand-made craft give it a distinctive voice. Demo 2.0, refined from player feedback, arrives October 16, with Steam Next Fest right behind it.
Demo 2.0: October 16, 2026, on Steam. Steam Next Fest: October 19 to 26. Release: Q1 2027 (planned).
