Forget fairways. In Crazy City Golf, the course is downtown: highways, alleyways, rooftops, and the occasional exploding tanker truck. Japanese two-person indie team Nulpoyo’s online party golf game launches on Steam on October 25, and its store page is live with a free demo anyone can try now.
Up to eight players fire shots across the city at the same time, in a chaotic party game that leaves traditional golf behind. You can play it safe along the road, cut through narrow alleys, or launch your ball over skyscraper rooftops, carving out your own route to the cup.
The Steam page lists golf, party game, physics, procedural generation, stylized, colorful, and 3D tags, pointing to a lively, physics-driven round.
A New City Every Round
Each round generates a fresh city. According to the developer, landmarks such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the pyramids, and an amusement park can appear. The city layout holds for the whole round, but the tee position and cup location change with every hole.
Cups can sit on roads, inside buildings, on rooftops, on islands offshore, or on the deck of a docked ship. Reading the surrounding terrain, including rivers, bridges, parks, and high-rises, is key to finding the best route.
Cars, Exploding Barrels, and Accidents as Shortcuts
City elements affect the ball’s path. Passing cars can deflect it, and hitting a red barrel or a tanker truck sets off an explosion. Bump a fire hydrant and a column of water shoots up. An explosion might send your shot somewhere absurd, or blast it right next to the cup.
There are more than 20 items. Players grab them by passing through item boxes scattered around the city, then use them to boost themselves or disrupt every other player.
Power-ups can extend your own distance or send a rival’s ball flying off course. Rewind lets you undo your own mistake or spoil an opponent’s great shot. Meteors and tornadoes can open up shortcuts or block other players’ progress.
Three Modes
The game offers three modes. Stroke Play (CUP) is classic golf: sink the ball in the fewest strokes. In Checkpoint Race (CHECKPOINTS), players must pass through every checkpoint in any order before reaching the cup, with faster finishes earning more points.
Turf War (TERRITORY) has players compete for control points across the city. The more you capture, the higher your score, and holing out earns bonus points.
Deciding whether to grab more territory or finish the hole and bank points is up to each player. Lobby settings let groups toggle items, adjust the number and length of holes, and set wind strength.
Made After Hours by Two Coworkers
Nulpoyo is a Japanese indie team of two colleagues at the same company who balance their day jobs with game development. According to the developer, they start working after the office closes and sometimes keep going until 5 a.m., wrapping up their all-night golf sessions right around when real golfers are preparing their first tee shots.
The free Steam demo is single-player only, pitting you against three CPU opponents. The full version supports online multiplayer for 2 to 8 players. Supported languages are English and Japanese; Korean is not supported. Pricing has not been announced.
Who This Is For
Strong fit for: friend groups looking for a chaotic online party game; fans of Golf With Your Friends-style mayhem who want a sandbox city; players who enjoy physics-driven randomness and items that reward or punish boldly; anyone who likes procedural variety in every round.
Cautious fit for: Korean-language players, since Korean is not supported; solo players, as the full game’s focus is online multiplayer; golf purists looking for precision.
Less ideal for: those wanting a realistic golf simulation.
The Takeaway
Crazy City Golf is built on a simple, inspired idea: if the whole city is the course, every car, barrel, and rooftop becomes a hazard or a shortcut. Procedurally generated cities, three modes with real strategic tension, and more than 20 disruptive items give it plenty of party potential, and the story of two coworkers building it into the small hours gives it charm. The free demo offers a taste of the chaos ahead of the October 25 launch.
Release: October 25, 2026, on Steam. Free single-player demo available now.
