Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi Game Academy 14th Entrepreneurship Course Student Recruitment

    By 인디게임닷컴 편집부2025년 02월 17일Updated:2025년 02월 18일4 Mins Read

    ○ Recruiting 15 teams for the 14th cohort of the Gyeonggi Game Academy Entrepreneurship Course until March 18
    ○ Providing up to six months of support for entrepreneurship and game development through specialized lectures and 1:1 team mentoring
    ○ Up to 20 million KRW will be awarded to teams with outstanding projects, along with a one-year development space in Pangyo

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Content Promotion Agency are accepting applications for the “2025 Gyeonggi Game Academy Startup Course (14th cohort)” until March 18. This program is designed for aspiring game startup teams looking to refine their projects and enhance their business strategies.

The Gyeonggi Game Academy will be held at the Gyeonggi Global Game Center in Pangyo, selecting 15 teams to participate in one-on-one expert mentoring for three months starting in April. The program will focus on refining game projects to a commercial level by providing development direction and detailed content feedback.

This year, reinforcing its reputation as Korea’s only startup-focused game academy, the program will offer intensive “entrepreneurship core education” (covering human resources, accounting, law, etc.) as part of its startup special lectures (held once a week, totaling 10 sessions). Approximately six of these lectures will take place within the first two weeks, while the remaining four sessions (featuring indie game industry leaders, pitching training, etc.) will be delivered later, providing essential guidance for early-stage startups.

    Program Benefits for Participating Teams

    Selected teams will receive:

    • 5 million KRW in project support funds
    • 1:1 project and business mentoring with game industry experts
    • Special lectures on entrepreneurship, including human resources, accounting, and legal topics
    • Access to a shared development space in Pangyo
    • Latest high-performance PCs and testing devices (iPad, Steam Deck, etc.)
    • Networking opportunities with alumni and industry professionals

Among the 15 teams that complete the basic course, approximately seven teams will be selected for an additional three-month advanced course starting in July, with the goal of launching their games. These teams will receive an additional 5 million KRW in project support funds. Additionally, the top three teams from the basic course will be awarded differentiated project support funds, ranging from 2 million to 5 million KRW.

New this year, an online/offline FGT (Focus Group Test) program will be conducted from August to September, allowing teams in the advanced course to receive direct feedback from real users.

    Final Awards and Follow-up Support

Upon completion of the program, three final teams will be selected for outstanding projects and will receive:

    • A 5 million KRW cash prize
    • One year of free access to a shared development space in Pangyo
    • 10 million KRW per team in commercialization support (for marketing, QA, translation, etc.)

Supporting the Future of Game Startups

Bae Young-sang, head of the Digital Innovation Division, stated, “We are recruiting participants for the Game Academy to actively support startup opportunities for talented young game developers. Through this academy, we aim to discover outstanding gaming talent and nurture startups that will grow into leading companies in the global gaming industry.”

For more details about the program, visit the Gyeonggi Global Game Center website (gcon.or.kr/ggc) and check the business announcement bulletin board. Interested teams must submit their applications through the website by 2:00 PM on March 18. For inquiries, please contact the Gyeonggi Content Promotion Agency Game Industry Team via phone (031-776-4786) or email (hankyul@gcon.or.kr).

    A Legacy of Success

Since its inception, the Gyeonggi Game Academy has successfully conducted 13 startup courses, supporting the establishment and development of 152 game companies. The program has produced award-winning startups, including:

    • “Motaesolo” – Winner of the 2021 Korea Game Awards
    • “SANABI” – Winner of the 2022 Korea Game Awards
    • “Sandy Floor” – Received follow-up support last year and successfully secured seed investment within one year of its founding

The academy continues to serve as a launchpad for small game development teams, providing them with both business growth opportunities and game project development support.
