76,000 visitors to Play Expo, largest export consultation ever

    By Editorial Team2022년 05월 18일Updated:2023년 11월 19일3 Mins Read

The largest convergence game show in the metropolitan area, ‘2022 PlayX4’, came to an end with over 76,000 visitors despite a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 18th, it was counted that 76,029 people attended the ‘2022 Play Expo’ held at KINTEX in Goyang from the 12th to the 15th.

The 2022 Play Expo solidified its position as the ‘largest comprehensive game show in the metropolitan area’ by introducing not only mobile and PC games, but also games of various genres such as consoles, arcades, and indie games. In particular, this year has become a venue for game festivals that the whole family can enjoy by holding various family events such as game quiz contests, career lectures, costume play contests, parades, and buskings that visitors can enjoy.

Microsoft participated in a large-scale independent booth and held various events such as game experiences and e-sports competitions. ‘Eternal Return’, developed by Nimble Neuron and serviced by Kakao Games, also participated in a game experience and event.

At the ‘Korean Family Game Center’, a ‘score rewarding arcade game’ designated as a regulatory sandbox business was displayed to present the future image of arcade games, and ‘Ruricon’ was a special exhibition of ‘Elden Ring’ of Bandai Namco Entertainment Korea, ‘faded’. Come on, wake up’ was released to the public for the first time.

In addition, the Gyeonggi e-Sports Festival was held on the special stage, which consisted of an e-sports competition for the disabled, an influencer Invitational, and a campus competition. The cumulative total number of viewers of the e-sports festival, which was broadcast live online, was 45229 people.

In the first competition held this year, which received a great response, Gyu-bin Oh won in the ‘Kart Rider Rush Plus’ category and Kang-seop Kang won the ‘Fifa Online 4’ category. In the ‘Campus Competition’ to determine the strongest e-sports in the metropolitan area, Kangnam University’s Park Seong-Jun won the ‘FIFA Online 4’ final.

In ‘Eternal Return’, Hannam University’s Yun Young-jin, and in the team event ‘League of Legends’, Hongik University’s Seoul campus team (Yul-Min Lee, Do-Hyun Ha, Jeong-Ho Lee, Dae-Yun Kim, Min-Se Cho) took the championship.

The Gyeonggi Content Agency (hereinafter referred to as Gyeongconjin) operated the ‘Gyeonggi Gotgem University’ booth and prepared a publicity event to introduce the business of Gyeongconjin to spread a healthy game culture.

In addition, a business-to-business (B2B) export conference was held to support domestic and international public relations and market development to revitalize the domestic game industry.

The business-to-business (B2B) export conference held in parallel on and offline in Hall 6 of the second exhibition hall of Kintex broke the record again after 2021. This year’s contract promotion amount was $134.35 million, an increase of about 21% from $110.67 million last year.

A total of 380 companies, including 173 domestic developers and 207 domestic and foreign buyers, participated in this export conference. Domestic developers conducted export consultations with buyers from 23 countries, including Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East.

Doo helped domestic companies to develop overseas markets through various support such as website biz matching system, 24-hour online consultation and interpretation support, production of promotional videos for domestic developers, overseas media promotions, and networking events.

Gyeonggi-do Future Growth Policy Officer Kim Gyu-sik said, “I would like to thank the visitors for their interest in the event held offline for the first time in three years.
