Smilegate Future Lab announced on the 17th that it will be recruiting participants for the ‘2025 Indie Game Prototyping Challenge’ until the 31st of this month.
The “2025 Indie Game Prototyping Challenge” was designed to help indie game developers overcome challenges they may encounter during the development process and foster growth. It will be held every Saturday for seven weeks, starting on the 9th of next month, at the Smilegate Campus Future Lab. During this period, participants will develop their game ideas and create prototypes. They will also have the opportunity to experience games from fellow developers and provide feedback.
Any developer with an early beta version of an indie game is eligible to apply. Applicants should submit an application containing their game idea to the Future Lab website by the deadline. The final selection will be announced on August 4th after a comprehensive evaluation of their motivation, development capabilities, and other factors.
Special lectures from senior developers have also been prepared to enhance the development skills of participants. Representatives Lee Yu-won of Banji Games, developer of “Fakebook,” Kim Seo-ha of Pepper Game Studio, developer of “Umbrella Prohibition,” and Hwang Seong-jin of Kassel Games, developer of “Ratopia,” will share their practical game development knowledge and expertise with junior developers.
Future Lab Director Oh Sook-hyun said, “I believe this challenge will be of great help in solving practical problems and improving capabilities for indie game development,” and added, “I ask for the interest and support of creators.”
