Smilegate Future Lab has announced it is now accepting applications for the 2025 Indie Game Prototyping Challenge, with submissions open until July 31.
The challenge is designed to support indie developers in overcoming common hurdles during game development and to help foster their creative growth. The program will run for seven weeks, starting August 9, taking place every Saturday at the Smilegate Campus Future Lab.
Participants will have the opportunity to refine their game ideas, develop prototypes, and exchange feedback by testing each other’s projects in a collaborative setting.
Who Can Apply:
Anyone with an early-stage indie game project (prototype or test build) is eligible. Applicants must submit a proposal including their game concept via the Future Lab website by the deadline. Final participants will be selected based on motivation, development capability, and other criteria, with results announced on August 4.
Special Developer Talks:
To support participants’ growth, several experienced indie developers will host guest lectures:
- Yoo Won Lee, CEO of Banjihagames (Fakebook)
- Seoha Kim, developer at Hoochu Game Studio (No Umbrella)
- Seongjin Hwang, CEO of Cassel Games (Ratopia)
These industry veterans will share practical development knowledge and insights gained from their journeys in game creation.
Oh Sookhyun, head of Smilegate Future Lab, commented:
“We believe this challenge will offer real value in helping indie developers solve concrete development problems and improve their capabilities. We welcome passionate creators to take part.”
