The global gateway for indie game developers, the ‘Global Indie Game Development Competition (GIGDC)’ is back.
GIGDC 2025, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency, and organized by the Korea Game Developers Association, will accept entries for 15 days from Monday, June 30 to Thursday, July 14 through the official GIGDC website.
This year, GIGDC will be holding a slogan of ‘Create Game, Hello World! – Connecting imagination to reality, through games!’ and will be discovering new talents in the future game industry, targeting creative indie game developers.
Compete with creativity… Korea’s most prestigious indie game contest
GIGDC is Korea’s most prestigious indie game contest, with over 300 original works submitted every year.
The 2025 competition will select winners in a total of five categories, and the grand prize winner in each category will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. In particular, the prize money this year has been significantly increased compared to previous years, which is expected to provide even stronger motivation to indie game developers preparing to participate.
Anyone who is an individual or a team of 10 or fewer people who are middle or high school students or older can participate. You can choose to participate in either the production or planning category, and if it is not the same work, multiple entries to both categories are allowed.
Even after winning the award, we are still strong… From professional mentoring to promotion
Winners are given real growth opportunities beyond just cash prizes and trophies. Through GIGDC’s follow-up support system, the “Winner Capacity Building Program,” they receive a variety of benefits, including training for development and service experts, customized mentoring, interview video production, and training needed to enter the global game market.
This is more than just a simple contest, and its purpose is to provide a foundation for promising indie game developers to enter the domestic game market and the global game market.
