    GIGDC 2025 Now Open for Applications — Korea’s Premier Indie Game Competition Returns

    The 2025 Global Indie Game Development Contest (GIGDC 2025), widely regarded as a gateway for Korea’s top indie game developers, has officially opened its call for entries starting June 30 (Sunday), ushering in another year of creative game innovation.

    Hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), organized by the Korea Game Developers Association (KGDA), and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, GIGDC aims to discover original, creative game content and foster a vibrant indie development culture. The contest plays a key role in broadening the foundation of Korea’s game industry.

    This year’s contest embraces the slogan:
    “Create Game, Hello World! – Turn Imagination into Reality, Connect Through Games!”,
    and is open to talented indie game developers around the globe. GIGDC 2025 continues its mission to identify promising individuals who will lead the next generation of the global game industry.

    Five Categories, Ministry Awards, and Increased Prize Pool

    GIGDC 2025 features five award categories: three for game production and two for game planning. The grand prize winners in each category will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, one of the most prestigious recognitions in Korea’s cultural content sector.

    This year, the total prize pool has been significantly increased, offering even greater incentive for indie developers to participate.

    Post-Competition Support for Winners

    More than just a competition, GIGDC provides ongoing support to its winners through its Post-Winner Capacity Building Program, which includes:

    • Expert-led training in game development and live service
    • One-on-one customized mentoring
    • Professional interview video production
    • Practical workshops on entering the global game market

    This comprehensive approach reflects GIGDC’s growing role as a launchpad for indie developers, helping them transition not only into the domestic market but also onto the global stage.
