Visual Dart (Jaeyoon Lee) announced on the 26th that it will be releasing the mobile version of its running game ‘Finding Momo’, which it is developing, for the first time.
‘Finding Momo’ is a game in which the official main character of the Busan Indie Connect Festival and virtual YouTuber ‘John’ runs through major tourist attractions in Busan in search of Momo who ran away. In particular, it is characterized by raising awareness of environmental protection while carrying out missions to collect recycled items within the game.
The game has been revealed in PC version at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, 2024 G-Star, 2024 WePlay, 2024 Gamescom Asia, Haeundae Game Pop-up Exhibition ‘Dive the Game-verse’, and 2025 Taipei Game Show. The game received positive feedback from visitors, such as ‘It’s fun to collect recycled items’ and ‘It could have been an ordinary running game, but by changing the viewpoint and adding a surfing function, I was able to play it differently by utilizing the Busan terrain’.
‘Finding Momo’ is a game that focuses on environmental protection among ESG (Environment, Society, Governance) values. While recalling the environmental problems experienced in various countries overseas, the development team noticed that there are not many countries that practice recycling separation as thoroughly as Korea. However, because recycling is not done properly, a lot of waste is flowing into the ocean, which has a serious impact not only on the marine ecosystem but also on humans. Accordingly, the development team has devoted itself to development with the core goal of naturally learning the importance of environmental protection through games from childhood and putting it into practice even as adults.
The running game genre is highly accessible and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Accordingly, ‘Finding Momo’ also provides easy and fun gameplay while conveying the social value of environmental protection. We plan to add various elements to help children naturally develop a positive perception of environmental protection and maintain continuous interest.
Visual Dart plans to build a system where completing missions in the game leads to actual environmental protection donations through collaboration with environmental organizations (NGOs) and eco-friendly brands through ‘Finding Momo’. For example, if a certain mission is completed, the company will donate a certain amount of money to an environmental protection project. In addition, a program is being prepared to reward recycled items collected in the real world as game items through collaboration with eco-friendly brands and recycling companies.
A Visual Dart official said, “Our goal is to have children naturally learn the importance of environmental protection through games and have them take real action,” adding, “We will work to establish this as an environmental protection project that connects games and reality.”
‘Finding Momo’ is scheduled to be released within the year, and Visual Dart plans to continue developing games that incorporate ESG values in the future.
