AFI Inc. (CEO Kwon Oh-hyun), the operator of the global game server SaaS platform ‘BACKND,’ will showcase its real-time multiplayer server technology ‘World’ at an exclusive booth (C1735) during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from March 19 to 21. At this event, BACKND plans to introduce its innovative ‘World’ server technology, designed specifically for MMO game development, enhancing its global competitive edge through this new service.
BACKND’s ‘World’ provides persistent server infrastructure and user-friendly platform APIs, ensuring that the game world continues seamlessly, even after players log off.
The service automatically handles complex issues like real-time synchronization, server scaling, and data management, ensuring stable performance even under heavy traffic, while significantly reducing unnecessary operational costs. Particularly, utilizing ‘World’ eliminates the need for tedious tasks, including network engine setup, database handling, scaling-out architecture, cloud settings, deployment, and monitoring.
Game developers can deliver smooth gameplay experiences crucial for massive MMORPGs or fast-paced action games. Thanks to the network engine that synchronizes object and game environment data in real time, players can experience a consistent game state even under large-scale concurrent access.
Kwon Oh-hyun, CEO of BACKND, stated, “While MMO game development traditionally involves high technological barriers, ‘World’ allows even small development teams to create MMO games without worrying about infrastructure. At GDC 2025, we aim to showcase this groundbreaking technology to global developers, empowering more creators to freely engage in MMO development.”
BACKND is currently offering ‘World’ in a free beta service and will provide live demonstrations and collect developer feedback at GDC 2025.
