Nexon (CEO Lee Jeong-heon) announced on the 7th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Mobile Game Association (Chairman Hwang Seong-ik) to promote content production based on its metaverse platform ‘PROJECT MOD’.
The two companies plan to cooperate with this partnership by focusing on operating related programs so that member companies of the Korea Mobile Game Association can use ‘PROJECT MOD’ to produce and release high-quality content.
‘PROJECT MOD’, considered as Nexon’s new attempt, is a content creation and service platform where anyone can create and present their own world. It provides the vast graphic resources of its popular IP ‘MapleStory’ for free use in content creation, and has a production environment with a high degree of freedom in which you can unleash your imagination using UGC (User Generated Content).
In particular, those with programming knowledge can develop sophisticated content based on Lua Script in ‘PROJECT MOD’, and can release large-scale content through team-based co-production. Nexon is preparing to introduce ‘PROJECT MOD’ to global regions including Korea, and is continuing to collaborate with various organizations to establish an environment where various contents are created within the platform.
Seong-ik Hwang, president of the Korea Mobile Game Association, said, “I hope that this collaboration will lead to the development of the digital content industry as well as creating a new content ecosystem with numerous development talents who dream of developing their own new content.”
Shin Min-seok, director of Nexon’s new development division, said, “I hope this collaboration will serve as an opportunity for various developers, including member companies of the Korea Mobile Game Association, to discover that PROJECT MOD is a useful platform where they can create and service content more conveniently.”
