Neowiz (Co-CEOs Seungchul Kim and Taegeun Bae) announced on the 28th that it has signed a global publishing contract for the new game ‘Kill the Shadow’ currently in development by Chinese indie game developer ‘Shadowlight’.

This publishing agreement is the result of both companies’ shared vision of creating games with strong narratives and their strategic direction of discovering new IPs.
‘Kill the Shadow’ is a suspense-focused narrative adventure set in a fictional city divided by war, where a detective with the ability to travel back in time tracks cases and uncovers hidden truths. Users experience the process of connecting different cases to assemble the entire story, and can enjoy a high sense of immersion through the narrative development based on reasoning.
It also offers a variety of content, including a unique art style that combines 2D pixel characters in a 3D environment, interactions with unique characters, exploration of various spaces from ruined factories to exotic ports, and a multi-ending structure that changes depending on the user’s choices.
The demo version of the game, which was released through Steam in July 2024, has received positive reviews from users for its solid story, impressive mystery system, and fresh visuals.
Kim Seung-cheol, co-CEO of Neowiz, said, “This collaboration began when the two companies’ development philosophies for narrative-centered premium PC and console games came together,” and added, “We will continue to work closely with ‘Shadowlight’ to make it a game that is a gift to global users.”
“Neowiz is a strong partner who shares our development philosophy and is a trustworthy global publisher,” said Black, CEO of Shadowlight. “As games grow beyond entertainment into cultural content, it is even more meaningful to be working with Neowiz, which shares the same vision.”
Meanwhile, Neowiz is focusing on discovering new narrative-centered IPs in the global market through various methods such as strategic investment and joint development, as well as publishing. It has made a strategic investment in Polish developer ‘Blank’, and has signed publishing contracts with ‘Zakazane’ and ‘Wolfeye Studio’, and is joining hands with various global partners including this ‘Shadowlight’.
Meanwhile, ‘Kill the Shadow’ is scheduled to be released globally through Steam. The specific release schedule will be announced at a later date.
