NEOWIZ (Co-CEOs Kim Seung-chul and Bae Tae-geun) announced on May 28 that it has signed a global publishing agreement with Chinese indie game developer Shadowlight for their upcoming narrative adventure game, Kill the Shadow.
This collaboration is the result of both companies’ shared vision for developing narrative-driven games and their strategic alignment in discovering new IPs.

Narrative Suspense Adventure Set in a War-Torn City
Kill the Shadow is a suspense-heavy narrative adventure set in a fictional city divided by war. Players step into the shoes of a detective who possesses the ability to reverse time, using this unique power to unravel mysteries and uncover hidden truths.
Players will piece together an overarching narrative by connecting various seemingly unrelated incidents, experiencing a deeply immersive story progression built on deduction and choice.
The game features:
- A distinct visual style combining 3D environments with 2D pixel characters
- Interactive storytelling with unique and memorable NPCs
- Exploration across abandoned factories, exotic ports, and more
- A multi-ending structure based on player choices
Since its demo launch on Steam in July 2024, the game has received positive feedback for its rich storytelling, clever investigation mechanics, and fresh artistic direction.
Mutual Commitment to Premium Narrative Games
NEOWIZ Co-CEO Kim Seung-chul stated:
“This partnership was born from a mutual commitment to delivering premium PC and console games with compelling narratives. We look forward to working closely with Shadowlight to bring a gift of a game to players worldwide.”
Black, CEO of Shadowlight, added:
“NEOWIZ is not only a trusted global publisher but also a partner that truly understands our development philosophy. As games evolve into cultural content beyond mere entertainment, our collaboration with NEOWIZ, which shares this vision, is deeply meaningful.”
NEOWIZ’s Continued Push for Global Narrative IP
Beyond publishing, NEOWIZ is actively investing in strategic partnerships and co-development to identify and support narrative-driven titles in the global market. Recent moves include:
- Strategic investment in Polish developer Blank
- Publishing agreements with Zakazane and WolfEye Studios
- And now, a new alliance with Shadowlight
Kill the Shadow is slated for a global launch on Steam, with the official release date to be announced at a later time.
