The highly anticipated next chapter in the beloved “Coffee Talk” series is taking a bit more time to brew. Chorus Worldwide, in collaboration with Indonesian indie powerhouse Toge Productions, has officially announced that the release date for “Coffee Talk Tokyo” has been moved from March 5 to May 21, 2026.
The game will launch globally on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, featuring full localization in nine languages, including English and Korean.
Seeking Perfection in the Final Stretch
In an official statement, the development team explained that the additional two-and-a-half months are necessary to deliver the “best possible experience.” While the core of the game is complete, the extra time will be used to polish the gameplay, refine the narrative pacing, and ensure a smooth, stable environment upon launch.
“We truly understand that waiting longer can be disappointing,” the team shared via social media. “However, our priority is to deliver the best possible experience from the very first moment players step back into the café.”
From Seattle to Tokyo: New Vistas, Familiar Comfort
While the previous entries were set in a fictionalized “New Seattle,” this standalone sequel relocates the late-night café to the heart of modern Tokyo. Set against a backdrop of cyberpunk neon signs and towering skyscrapers, the game preserves the series’ signature cozy atmosphere while introducing a distinct Japanese cultural flair.
- A New Cast of Characters: Players will serve a mix of humans and mythological Yokai inspired by Japanese folklore. Notable newcomers include Kenji, a world-weary Kappa salaryman nearing retirement; Erika, a fox-like being; and Vin, the barista’s diligent assistant.
- Expanded Brewing Mechanics: For the first time, players can brew both hot and cold drinks to help customers survive the sweltering Tokyo summer. A new sprinkle stencil tool has also been added to the latte art system, allowing for even more creative and intricate designs.
- Tomodachill Social Feed: An in-game SNS feature called “Tomodachill” allows players to peek into the daily lives of their customers, unlocking hidden dialogue paths and deepening the branching narrative.
Lo-Fi Beats and City Pop Vibes
The iconic sound of the series returns with original composer Andrew Jeremy (AJ) at the helm. The new soundtrack blends the series’ signature lo-fi jazz with smooth beats inspired by Tokyo’s summer nights. A Limited Edition has also been confirmed, which will include a 10-track City Pop album, a digital artbook, and a special “Seattle Prologue” chapter for long-time fans.
