Building the Next Generation of Devs: Daejeon Opens Recruitment for ‘inD Game School’ 2026

    By Editorial Team2026년 03월 04일3 Mins Read
    • Practical Mastery: A 3-month intensive course covering Game Graphics and Programming.
    • Proven Pipeline: Graduates are eligible for 6-month paid internships with local game studios.
    • The Hub: Hosted at the Daejeon Global Game Center, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and rent-free perks for startups.
    • Collaboration: Organized by the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency (DICIA) and supported by Mokwon University.

The city of Daejeon is doubling down on its commitment to becoming a regional powerhouse for the gaming industry. On March 4, the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency (DICIA) officially announced the recruitment of trainees for the “inD Game School,” a specialized program designed to turn local talent into industry-ready professionals.

From Theory to Team Projects: The 3-Month Sprint

The “inD Game School” moves away from traditional lecture-style learning, focusing instead on a team-based project curriculum. Students are divided into two specialized tracks:

    TrackFocus Areas
Game GraphicsCharacter design, environment art, UI/UX, and 2D/3D modeling.
Game ProgrammingEngine-based development (Unity/Unreal), logic, and system architecture.

Over 90 days, participants work in cross-functional teams to build a functional indie game from scratch, simulating a real-world development environment. This approach is designed to foster soft skills like communication and version control alongside technical proficiency.

The Internship Bridge: A Proven Path to Employment

What sets the “inD Game School” apart is its high conversion rate to professional roles. In the most recent cohort, out of 34 total graduates, 10 were successfully matched with local game companies for a 6-month internship.

DICIA provides financial and administrative support for these internships, reducing the risk for small studios and providing a stable entry point for junior developers. Graduates are also encouraged to participate in regional events like the Daejeon inD Game Jam and the Chungcheong Indie Game Competition to further boost their portfolios.

Daejeon Global Game Center: The Ultimate Incubator

The program is hosted at the Daejeon Global Game Center in Yuseong-gu. Beyond the classroom, the center serves as a full-service incubator for indie developers, offering:

    • Rent-Free Space: Eligible startups can receive up to 3 years of rent-free office space.
    • Equipment Access: High-end testing devices, motion capture tools, and VR/AR gear.
    • Mentorship: Direct lines to industry veterans for business and technical consulting.

“Our goal is to ensure that local youth don’t just learn a skill, but find a career,” said Lee Eun-hak, President of DICIA. “We will continue to refine our talent model to meet the evolving demands of the global game industry.”

    How to Apply

Interested candidates can find application forms and detailed requirements on the official websites of DICIA or the Daejeon Global Game Center.

    • Eligibility: Aspiring developers, university students, and job seekers residing in the Daejeon area.
