– Nurturing professional game development talent through cooperation with Gyeongil Game Academy
– A project that allows you to directly experience the entire game development process and develop practical skills
– 5 games produced as a result of the project, released through ‘Punkland’
Supercat (CEO Kim Young-eul) announced on the 27th that it had joined hands with Gyeongil Game Academy (CEO Park Byeong-jun) to carry out a game development project using its game platform ‘PUNKLAND.’
This project was promoted based on the consensus between companies on discovering and nurturing game development talent. Encompassing each company’s expertise and core competencies, the curriculum was composed of practical training, practice, and team assignments with the ultimate goal of launching the game.
Supercat provided ‘Punkland Studio,’ a game development tool that provides one-stop development functions from server and DB construction, UI design, and release and supported the release of new games resulting from the project. Gyeongil Game Academy was in charge of providing the lecture curriculum and overall project operation.
Approximately 30 project participants were divided into a total of 5 teams. Each team carried out a project to produce a game based on the graphic resources of ‘Punkland Studio’ and the integrated resource-sharing platform ‘Game Madang,’ and five types of games, including adventure and RPG genres. They succeeded in releasing it on ‘Punkland’.
Works selected as excellent games were allowed to be exposed on the main banner at the top of ‘Punkland,’ providing promotional benefits for new games.
Jeon Yoo-young, head of Supercat Platform Strategy Department, said, “Based on cooperation with Gyeongil Game Academy, we conducted a project that allowed people to directly experience the entire process of game development and develop practical capabilities,” adding, “From lectures to the actual game launch, everything went smoothly. “We will strive to make it a long-term project in the future.”
