Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency announced that they will hold the ‘Busan Indie Wave Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Conference)’, which will combine the global indie game ecosystem and the latest technology trends, at the Grand Josun in Haeundae, Busan on August 14th.

This conference is the first event held in conjunction with the ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival 2025’, and was planned to strengthen the foundation for the global expansion of Busan’s game industry and promote the spread of the latest technology trends through exchanges between indie game developers, aspiring entrepreneurs, game-related organizations, and companies.
The conference will consist of a global conference, focus sessions, and business matching consultations. The global conference session will feature speakers from various fields, including StarVaders developer Pengonauts, 1001 nights developer Ada Eden, YouTube, and Studio Sinkhole, who will share the latest trends in the indie game industry and market entry strategies.
Focus sessions are conducted in the form of small group discussions, allowing industry practitioners and participants to interact freely. Industry professionals from Solana, Hwawoo Game Center, and other organizations will provide in-depth, practical information on platform entry strategies and gaming law-related issues. Participants can also engage in a free Q&A session to gain personalized advice and insights.
Additionally, one-on-one customized business matching consultations and networking sessions between speakers and participating companies are expected to promote the discovery of partnerships between companies and connections between industries.
Kim Tae-yeol, the president of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, said, “For the indie game industry to connect with global technologies and platforms, field-centered insights and practical networks are important,” and added, “I hope that through this conference, Busan will leap forward as a global hub for the new technology-based indie game industry.”
Meanwhile, the Promotion Agency is operating the ‘Regional Specialized Content Development Support Project’ with support from the Korea Creative Content Agency and Busan Metropolitan City, and this event is being promoted as part of that project.
