Rats, a Korean indie game studio, announced that its debut title “Room 502” has been officially selected for exhibition at BitSummit 2025, Japan’s largest indie game festival, held in Kyoto.
Set in a dormitory-style high school, Room 502 is a youth mystery adventure game that follows the enigmatic events unfolding between roommates. Players step into the shoes of Hae-eun, a cynical high school student, and navigate the hidden secrets buried beneath ordinary school life. Along the way, players develop relationships with various characters while uncovering the truth behind the dorm’s mysteries.
The game offers a unique narrative experience by combining immersive mystery-solving elements with emotional storytelling. Tackling relatable themes like Korea’s education pressures, friendship, and teenage struggles, Room 502 delivers an introspective journey wrapped in suspenseful tension.
Room 502 will be showcased during BitSummit 2025, taking place from July 18 to 20 at Miyako Messe in Kyoto. BitSummit is one of Asia’s premier indie game festivals, drawing developers, publishers, and media from around the globe.
Rats stated,
“Room 502 is a coming-of-age mystery told through an emotional and introspective lens. Through our participation in BitSummit, we hope to connect with more global players—especially those in Japan—and share our story with a wider audience.”
The game is currently under development and is planned for release on PC platforms.
