    25 teams winning the GIGDC2021 global indie game production contest held an awards ceremony

    “Awarded the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for the grand prize winners by category”

    “The final winner will be presented and exhibited at the ‘GIGDC2021 Awards Ceremony’ held in November.”

    In order to revitalize indie game development and discover new game creators, the 25 team awards ceremony for winning works of the ‘2021 Global Indie Game Production Contest’ sponsored and hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency and hosted by the Korea Game Developers Association was held on November 5. It was held at the Amoris GS Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul on the 1st.

    ‘A total of 430 works participated in this contest for indie game contents with creative and original materials, and this contest was held in ▲Production Department General Department ▲Production Department College Department ▲Production Department Middle/High School Department ▲Planning Department College Department ▲ A total of 25 works were selected from a total of 5 categories including the middle and high school divisions in the planning division, and the grand prize winner was awarded the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award along with a prize money.

    For the fairness of the judging, the 25 teams that went through the 1st (online judging) and 2nd (offline judging) judging and decided to win the prize were held at the awards ceremony on the day of the award ceremony. The CEO, Kim Min-jung and Lee Kyu-won, co-representatives of the two-month winning studio, and Kim Jun-woo, the CEO of Sparky Studios, came forward and gave advice.

    Gold Medals: Middle and High School Batifle (CEO Kim Jin-hyeok/Production Division), Hexagonal (CEO Lee Min-hyung/Planning Division), University Department: Star Library (CEO Lee Hye-Won/Production Division), Plus Alpha (CEO Kim Nam-Hoon/Planning Division), General Division Before The Dawn (CEO Jeong Geuk-min) 5 teams were selected and awarded the Korea Creative Content Agency President’s Award.

    The silver prizes include TheCrown (CEO Na Young-wook/production division), Virus Defense (CEO Kim Do-hyeon/planning division), Color Lim (CEO Kim Hee-jun/production division), SHAMBLES (CEO Lee Jae-bok/planning division), Catch My Color (General Division) Representative Park Ji-hyuk) 5 teams were selected and awarded the Korea Game Developers Association President’s Award.

    Demise (CEO Lee Jae-Won/production department), Alpha: The wolf that swallowed the crown (CEO Lee Ah-young/planning department), University Department: Dear the Forgotten (CEO Jung Yu-rim/production department), Labyrinth of Duukshin (CEO Park Soo-in/planning department) ) and In Stone (CEO Jeon Ye-eun) from the general division, 5 teams were selected and awarded the Korea Game Developers Association President’s Award.

    In addition, 5 teams including RAISE HELL (CEO Yoon Se-Chan), Wetory (CEO Ha-Young Ha), Grid page (CEO Lee Tae-Yun), NEVER WOOD (CEO Park Jung-eon), and Missing Home (CEO Yang-ryul Yang) were awarded a special prize that highly evaluated the outstanding ideas of the submitted works. was selected

    In addition to prize money according to ranking, the winning teams will be supported with various growth support programs to strengthen the capabilities of the winning indie game development and developers.

    Opportunities to participate in technical lectures, including expert project clinics provided by Unity, are available. In addition, through the Winners Camp with game industry experts, follow-up growth support programs based on the cooperative system among participating institutions, such as employment/startup mentoring and programs for large domestic game companies, are planned to be actively provided.

    In addition, we plan to provide overseas translation programs to support domestic media promotion of award-winning works in various fields and to help them advance into overseas services.

    Jeong Seok-hee, president of the Korea Game Developers Association, said, “The purpose of this contest is to serve as a motivating agent so that developers can grow as developers who are creative and concerned about their professional meaning. It will be the first step.”
