Back in August, solo developer Kate promised Allogloom would arrive in October. She kept her word. Kate’s label, Galactic Ghosty, and publisher Iceberg Interactive launched the hand-drawn point-and-click adventure on PC on October 13.
The game costs $14.99 / €14.99, with a 10% launch discount on Steam for two weeks. It is available on Steam as well as other major PC storefronts including the Epic Games Store and GOG.
Allogloom takes place in Gruesome Grove, a town whose residents have been vanishing one by one. Players take on the role of Nora, tracking down the missing townsfolk and uncovering the old secrets and monsters surrounding the place.

A Strange Story Hidden in a Cozy Fairy Tale
The game spans eight chapters and six interconnected worlds. Its standout feature, already noticed when it was introduced in August, is the distinctive art drawn by its solo developer.
Kate hand-drew almost everything in the game, from backgrounds and characters to its peculiar creatures. A style that blends gothic and fairy-tale influences, warm colors, and staging that slowly draws out unease gives Allogloom its signature mood of cozy, uncanny horror.
In the full release, that world is woven directly into the puzzles. Players progress by finding and combining items, talking with residents and monsters, and investigating suspicious artifacts.
Many puzzles tie into the history of Gruesome Grove and the stories of its residents, so careful observation and attention to clues in conversation matter. Solving puzzles is itself a way of uncovering the town’s hidden past.
Venturing beyond Gruesome Grove into six interconnected worlds, Nora gradually closes in on why the residents disappeared and what truths lie hidden around town.
Early Press Praise
Initial international reviews released around launch have been positive.
CGM called it a fun, relaxing, and charming point-and-click adventure especially well suited to the spooky season. LifeIsXbox went further, saying it will be counted among the genre’s great examples and that it enjoyed the game from start to finish.
Navigames also praised its personality, highlighting a distinctive atmosphere that mixes the gothic, the grotesque, and the elegant, along with its entirely hand-drawn art style.
A Perfect Start With Players
Early player response has been just as warm. As of October 17, the game had 26 user reviews on Steam, all positive. The pre-release demo also held a 100% positive rating.
International communities have responded well to the hand-drawn art, the uncanny-but-cozy atmosphere, and puzzles that are approachable without being trivial. Some players have compared it to Fran Bow, recommending it to fans of dark fairy tales and point-and-click adventures.
Years of Building a World Alone
Allogloom is the product of years of work by Kate. A longtime fan of mystery games, she taught herself illustration, game design, writing, and animation to build the world of Gruesome Grove, with a small number of collaborators helping along the way.
Where the August demo offered a first look at the art and world, the full release now tells Nora’s story in Gruesome Grove from beginning to end.
Who This Is For
Strong fit for: point-and-click fans who enjoy dark fairy tales; players who loved Fran Bow or similar gothic-whimsical adventures; anyone drawn to fully hand-drawn art; players looking for a spooky-season game that’s eerie but not punishing; those who prefer approachable puzzles tied to story and lore.
Cautious fit for: players who want intense horror or jump scares, since the tone leans cozy and uncanny rather than frightening.
Less ideal for: those seeking action, real-time challenge, or very difficult logic puzzles.
The Takeaway
Allogloom is a quietly impressive solo achievement: a gothic fairy-tale mystery where nearly every brushstroke came from one developer who taught herself the craft to make it. Puzzles that double as lore, six connected worlds, and a cozy-uncanny atmosphere have won over both critics and players, with a perfect early Steam score. For fans of hand-drawn adventures, Gruesome Grove is well worth a visit this October.
Out now on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. $14.99 / €14.99 (10% off on Steam for two weeks after launch).
