Smilegate Future Lab Foundation (Chairman Kwon Hyuk-bin) announced that it will hold the indie game & culture festival ‘Burning Beaver 2024’ for three days from November 29 to December 1 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (hereinafter referred to as ‘DDP’).
This year, 83 indie game development teams will participate in Burning Beaver 2024 to showcase their games. ▲Anemone’s interactive game ‘Sohee’ that depicts a story exploring the emotions of everyday moments, ▲Ring Games’ mystery adventure game ‘Fakebook’ in which you must gather followers by uncovering the secrets of people around you such as friends and family, ▲Tarp Studio’s ‘Nqc: Non Qualia Character’ that tells the story of the main character ‘Tris’ who becomes a being in a network, etc. A variety of unique and novel games of various genres have been prepared.
The special exhibition ‘Games Outside the Game’, which showcases experimental games from around the world, and the board game ‘Mystery New Employee’, which is themed on diversity and prepared by Smilegate D&I Lab, are also ready to welcome visitors.
From Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1 at 1 PM, game influencers ‘Goraphadong’, ‘Nam Dohyung’, and ‘Hwiyong’ will hold stage events such as game play and autograph sessions with the audience. On Sunday, December 1 at 3:30 PM, there will also be an invited lecture by Song Gilyoung, author of ‘Sidae Yebo: Homyeong Society’.
There are also various side events. The ‘Reward Zone’ has game production and career experience one-day classes, tarot and photo booths, etc. that visitors can participate in. You can also find Burning Beaver limited edition goods at the pop-up corner. Visitors can use the event guide ‘Michelin Guide’ to complete various missions and earn spoons (points), which can be used in the Reward Zone.
Future Lab Foundation Team Leader Hwang Ju-hoon said, “As we have returned with a new worldview this year, there are various things to see in addition to experiencing indie games,” and added, “We ask for the interest and participation of those who want to enjoy the unique pleasure of indie games at Burning Beaver, where games from passionate creators are exhibited.”
