- Dino-Powered Farming: A cozy adventure featuring a floating farm on a boat pulled by a huggable dinosaur companion.
- Veteran Pedigree: Developed by a four-person team in Duisburg, Germany, with experience at Mimimi Games, Daedalic, and Alchemist Interactive.
- Steam Next Fest: Freshly updated demo arrives for the event (Feb 23 – March 2), with progress carrying over to the full game.
- Big Reveal: The official release date will be announced on February 19 during The Mix Indie Fan Fest.
If you’ve ever felt like the typical “farm-sim” was a bit too grounded, German developer VoodooDuck is ready to take you to the high seas. The studio has officially announced that their maritime cozy-collecting adventure, ‘Collector’s Cove’, will be a headliner at the upcoming Steam Next Fest this February.
A Floating Sanctuary with No Stress
In a genre often defined by tight schedules and energy bars, Collector’s Cove offers a radical alternative: zero pressure. There are no enemies, no ticking clocks, and no game-overs. You play as an aspiring “Named Collector” living on a customisable boat that serves as your home and your soil.
Accompanied by a massive, gentle sea creature (that looks suspiciously like a very friendly dinosaur), you navigate diverse climate zones—including a newly revealed Autumn biome—to forage for rare seeds and reel in elusive fish.
The “Compendium” Challenge
The heart of the game lies in its Collector’s Compendium. To complete it, players must:
- Cultivate: Grow and harvest over 60 unique crops on the deck of their ship.
- Fish: Master the waves to catch more than 60 different species of fish.
- Discover: Explore uncharted islands to find regional flora and hidden secrets.
- Bond: Customize your animal companion with accessories and unlock new interactions as your friendship grows.
Developed by Industry Veterans
While VoodooDuck is a small, four-person indie outfit based in Duisburg, their collective resume reads like a “Who’s Who” of German game development:
- The Art Director spent a decade at the now-legendary Mimimi Games (Shadow Tactics, Desperados III).
- The Technical Director led programming at Alchemist Interactive for titles like Stranded Sails.
- The Creative Director served as a senior designer at Daedalic Entertainment on major console projects.
This depth of experience is evident in the game’s polished aesthetics and tactile, intuitive UI—even in its early demo stages.
