Pixar-Style Masterpiece ‘Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ Leaps onto Nintendo Switch 2 This Spring

    By Editorial Team2026년 03월 06일3 Mins Read
    • The Big Debut: The multi-award-winning indie gem finally arrives on a Nintendo platform.
    • The Package: A “Complete Edition” including the Anniversary DLC and New Game+.
    • The Studio: Developed by Ember Lab, a former animation studio famous for their Zelda fan films.
    • The Future: Sequel Kena: Scars of Kosmora also confirmed for late 2026.

One of the most visually stunning indie games of the decade is officially making its way to Nintendo’s next-generation hardware. Ember Lab announced today that Kena: Bridge of Spirits will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2026. This version will serve as the definitive edition of the game, bundling all post-launch content into one high-fidelity package.

    A Modern Indie Legend

Since its initial release in 2021, Kena: Bridge of Spirits has captivated players with its “playable Pixar movie” aesthetic and surprisingly deep combat mechanics. The game was a critical darling, sweeping The Game Awards 2021 with wins for Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game.

Players take on the role of Kena, a young Spirit Guide who travels to a forgotten village in search of a sacred mountain shrine. Along the way, she collects “Rot”—tiny, adorable spirit companions that assist in puzzles, environmental purification, and tactical combat.

What’s Included in the Switch 2 Version?

The Switch 2 port isn’t just a basic transition; it is the Anniversary Edition, which includes:

    • New Game+: Restart the journey with all previously unlocked abilities and face redesigned, more aggressive enemy encounters.
    • Spirit Guide Trials: Replayable combat challenges that test your mastery of Kena’s staff and bow.
    • Rot Hats & Outfits: Exclusive customization options for both Kena and her tiny companions.
    • Charmstones: Equippable items that allow players to customize their combat stats and playstyles.

    The Road to Kosmora

The announcement comes at a perfect time for the franchise. Ember Lab recently revealed the official sequel, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, scheduled for a late 2026 release on PS5 and PC. In the sequel, Kena will explore a new archipelago using elemental magic and alchemy after her iconic staff is destroyed in battle.

By bringing the original masterpiece to the Switch 2, Ember Lab is ensuring that a new generation of Nintendo fans can experience Kena’s origin story before the next chapter begins.

“Playing Kena feels like stepping into a high-budget animated film, but the combat has the bite of a modern action-RPG. It’s the perfect showcase for the Switch 2’s power.” — Early Community Reaction
