The Seoul Economic Promotion Agency successfully held a developer networking event to revitalize the indie game ecosystem.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency (SBA), in collaboration with IGG Korea, successfully hosted a networking event for indie game developers and industry professionals.

SBA announced on the 28th that it held an indie game networking event in collaboration with the IGG (Indie Game Group) Korea Chapter, sponsored by Google Play, at ‘Gen.GGGX’ in Seoul on the 21st. This event consisted of a variety of programs such as an exhibition where domestic and foreign indie game developers showcased games currently in development, insight lectures, and networking sessions.

Global hits and domestic hits, all in one place

At the event, G-MODE Corporation, a Japanese game company that developed the ‘Tsukuyomi series’ that was very popular in the global market, and Lizard Smoothie, the developer of the popular domestic indie game ‘Shape of Dreams’ in 2025, participated in the insight lecture and shared practical development know-how and success strategies.

Notably, a showcase of 15 promising indie games took place on-site, allowing attendees to experience games of various genres and styles firsthand. This provided developers with a valuable opportunity to share their games’ direction and completion levels on-site and receive practical feedback from industry insiders and fellow developers.

Sharing 2025 achievements and presenting support project directions for 2026

At this event, the SBA shared key achievements from game companies participating in the 2025 Game Team Support Program and provided guidance on the direction of the 2026 program. This was intended to help participating companies identify future support opportunities and develop business plans.

Moon Gyu-seon, head of the Creative Industry Division at the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency, emphasized, “We deeply recognize the importance of Seoul’s game industry as a high value-added industry that contributes to the economy,” and added, “We will continue to communicate with small and medium-sized and indie game companies in Seoul with an open attitude and do our best to support their growth.”

Commitment to building a sustainable community

IGG Korea, the co-host organization, is an organization based on the domestic and international indie game developer community, and plans to use this event as an opportunity to strengthen the connection between indie game developers and game industry professionals together with SBA and provide a platform for continuous exchange.

This event is recognized as a meaningful opportunity to support the revitalization of the domestic indie game ecosystem and the growth of developers, and it is expected that regular hosting in the future will contribute to establishing Seoul as a hub for the indie game industry.
