- The Aesthetic: 19th-century atmosphere rendered in charming 2.5D isometric pixel art.

- Future Plans: Nintendo Switch and other console ports are currently in development.
Global publisher CFK has officially released Connected Clue, the latest project from solo developer Alpheratz Games. Moving beyond the traditional “visual novel” style of mystery games, this title invites players to stop reading and start investigating in a living, breathing 19th-century town.
True Deduction: Fieldwork Over Text boxes
The defining feature of Connected Clue is its rejection of passive storytelling. Instead of simply clicking through dialogue, players assume the role of detective Diana and must physically navigate the streets of Salomon Town to gather evidence.
The game features 11 main chapters and 18 sub-quests, totaling 29 missions of increasing complexity. Players aren’t just looking for highlighted text; they are analyzing crime scenes, trailing suspects, and solving mechanical environmental puzzles.
The Detective’s Toolkit
To capture the feeling of a classic mystery novel, Connected Clue integrates several unique gameplay mechanics:
- The Detective Board: Back at the office, players must manually connect testimonies and physical evidence on a logic board to reconstruct the case timeline.
- Disguise & Infiltration: Certain areas are off-limits. Players can equip various costumes to sneak past guards and secure restricted evidence.
- Evidence Analysis: Inspect items in 3D/high-detail to find hidden markings or fingerprints.
- Interrogation & Chases: Catch suspects in lies by presenting the correct evidence. If they flee, players must engage in high-stakes QTE (Quick Time Event) chase sequences through the city streets.
- Inspector Colin’s Hotline: If the trail goes cold, players can use public payphones to call Inspector Colin for crucial hints.

A Four-Year Labor of Love
Behind Connected Clue is Seong Hwa-jeong, the solo developer who handled everything from programming and story to sound composition and translation. A former Comic Creation major, Seong spent four years meticulously building Salomon Town.
Having previously released the emotional platformers Wicce and Nevaeh, Seong’s transition into the mystery genre focuses on environmental storytelling. Early community reactions have praised the game for its accessibility options—including visualized sound effects for the hearing impaired and color/contrast adjustments—proving that even a solo developer can set a high bar for polish.
