- Free-to-Play Launch: Korean indie developer Dice Capital set to release its debut title on February 5, 2026.
- The DNA of Classics: Blends the hardcore grid-tactics of Into the Breach with the cozy pixel aesthetics of Dream Tactics.
- Luck as a Resource: Replaces traditional mana and cooldowns with a high-stakes dice-allocation system.
What happens when a prestigious magic family produces a witch with exactly zero mana and a mountain of gambling debt? You get ‘No Mana, Just Dice’, a brilliantly punishing turn-based strategy game from South Korean developer Dice Capital. Published by Jungle Game Lab, the title is gearing up for a worldwide free release on Steam next month.
Strategy Without the Safety Net
Most tactical RPGs allow you to plan your turns around predictable resources like Action Points or Mana. In No Mana, Just Dice, your only resource is a set of “shady, defective dice” purchased from a loan shark.
- The Allocation Struggle: Every turn, you roll your limited pool of four dice. You must decide whether to use a high roll for a long-distance retreat or commit it to a devastating attack.
- Perfect Information Gameplay: True to its Into the Breach inspiration, the game features a “Perfect Information” system. You can see exactly what the enemies will do on their next turn. Your job isn’t to guess their moves, but to solve the “puzzle” of survival using the random numbers you were dealt.
Redefining “Bad Luck” with Dynamic Scrolls
Dice Capital introduces a clever twist to the randomness: the Scroll Deckbuilding System. Instead of changing your luck, you change the meaning of your dice.
“In this world, a roll of ‘1’ isn’t always a failure. With the right scroll equipped, that ‘1’ might trigger a massive Area of Effect (AoE) blast or a desperate shield.”
Players can only bring four scrolls into the dungeon. This limited loadout forces a tight strategic balance between range, power, and survivability. By swapping scrolls, players can build a “deck” that turns even the lowest rolls into tactical gold.
A Story of Reluctant Heroism
The narrative follows a “failed witch” who hides her fear behind the facade of a brooding Dark Mage. Desperate to pay off her creditors, she enters a lethal dungeon in search of a legendary wish-granting scroll. The contrast between her cool exterior and her internal panic—conveyed through charming pixel art—adds a layer of humor to an otherwise tense experience.
