The innovative K-Indie scene is set to deliver another unique title this winter. ManduPod, an independent studio, has announced that its creative spatial puzzle adventure, ‘Cartapli: Fold Quest’, will officially launch for free on Steam on February 5, 2026. Combining the tactical depth of a roguelike with the tactile charm of origami, the game promises a logic-bending experience unlike anything else on the platform.
Folding the World: A New Puzzle Paradigm
At its core, Cartapli : Fold Quest is a spatial puzzle adventure where the primary mechanic is the physical transformation of the map itself. Instead of navigating a static world, players manipulate the environment by folding and unfolding parts of the stage, much like real paper.
- Folding as Combat: This isn’t your standard brawler. Players use spatial distortion to bridge gaps, block enemy attacks by overlapping terrain, or creatively “fold” enemies right off the edge of the battlefield.
- Tactical Geometry: Combat is non-violent yet intellectually demanding. Players must calculate the direction and order of folds to outmaneuver foes, requiring sharp logical thinking and spatial awareness.
Roguelike Replayability
To keep the experience fresh, ManduPod has integrated a Roguelike system. Every playthrough offers different enemy placements, map configurations, and growth paths. Players will have to make strategic choices as they progress, ensuring that no two “fables” are exactly the same.
“We wanted to go beyond a simple puzzle game by adding roguelike elements,” said a representative from ManduPod. “This allows for meaningful strategic choices and high replay value. We decided to launch the game for free to ensure as many players as possible can experience this world without barriers.”
