Seongnam, Korea — September 24, 2025 — Smilegate Future Lab announced today that it is now accepting applications for “Beaver Jam with Naver Webtoon”, a game jam event where indie creators will transform popular webtoon IPs into experimental game projects.
The event, co-hosted with Naver Webtoon, invites participants to reimagine well-known stories through interactive gameplay, expanding the boundaries of content consumption and blurring the line between creator and audience. The game jam will be held from October 24 to 26 at the Smilegate Campus.
Recruitment Details
Future Lab plans to recruit 75 indie game creators in total, including 15 planners, 30 programmers, and 30 graphic designers. Interested applicants must submit an application via the Future Lab website by October 13. All selected participants will receive a welcome kit as well as tickets to the Beaver Rocks 2025 Festival.
Program Overview
On the first day, orientation and team-building sessions will be held. Participants will choose a Naver Webtoon IP, prepare concept pitches, and form teams of five (one planner, two programmers, and two designers).
On the second day, teams will begin development with mentoring support from Unity Korea experts, who will provide technical consulting and hands-on guidance throughout the process.
On the final day, the completed games will be showcased in a demo exhibition. The top seven teams will receive gift vouchers and the chance to present their games at the Beaver Rocks 2025 special Naver Webtoon showcase zone.
Expanding Creative Boundaries
“Future Lab has always strived to build an environment where creators can enjoy the process of creation itself,” said Oh Sook-hyun, Head of Smilegate Future Lab. “This Beaver Jam represents an important attempt to expand the creative culture that Beaver Rocks stands for, and we look forward to seeing the participation of passionate and imaginative creators.”
