Real UFO Research Meets Psychological Dread: ‘Who Are You!?’ Hits Steam March 27

    By Editorial Team2026년 03월 17일Updated:2026년 03월 18일4 Mins Read
    • The Premise: A deep dive into alien abduction trauma and family grief, moving away from cheap jumpscares toward “slow-burn” psychological tension.
    • The Pedigree: Developed by Argentina’s Haunting Humans Studio, with direct input from real-life UFO researchers and psychologists.
    • The Philosophy: A strictly “No-AI” production—every piece of art, sound, and code is 100% handcrafted.
    • Release Date: March 27, 2026 (Episode 1) on PC via Steam.

Forget everything you know about gray aliens and loud noises. Haunting Humans Studio is preparing to release Who Are You!?, an atmospheric SF psychological horror adventure that challenges the very nature of reality. By blending historical UFO lore with the intimate pain of a fractured family, the studio aims to deliver a “lingering fear” that stays with the player long after the screen goes dark.

A Search for Truth in the 1960s Heartland

Set against the backdrop of a meticulously recreated 1960s rural America, players step into the shoes of Ray Roswell.

Twenty years ago, Ray’s wife was taken in a mysterious abduction that the world refused to believe. Now, with his daughter also missing, Ray is forced to return to his research and confront the trauma he tried to bury. The narrative serves as a sequel to the prequel short, The Amanda Roswell Project, linking decades of unexplained phenomena into a single, chilling mystery.

Fear of the Unseen: No Jumpscares, Only Dread

The developers have made a bold creative choice: no jumpscares. * Psychological Erosion: Instead of monsters jumping from closets, the game focuses on the “crack in perception.” Players are placed in a state of constant uncertainty—never quite sure if what they are seeing is a physical threat, a memory, or a manifestation of Ray’s deteriorating mental state.

    • Atmospheric Immersion: The setting—a lonely farmhouse surrounded by endless cornfields—utilizes sophisticated lighting and a muted color palette to evoke a sense of isolation.
    • Sonic Restraint: The sound design avoids bombastic orchestral stings, opting instead for minimalist tension and the oppressive weight of silence, punctuated only by the subtle, alien-like hum of the unknown.

    The “Handcrafted” Difference

In an era of generative tools, Haunting Humans Studio is taking a stand. The studio emphasizes that Who Are You!? is a completely manual production. Every texture, every sound effect, and every line of dialogue has been crafted by human hands to ensure the emotional weight of the story remains authentic.

The project also benefits from a unique collaboration:

    • Real Research: The developers worked alongside renowned UFO researchers Silvia and Andrea Perez Simondini to ground the game in actual reported sightings and abduction accounts.
    • Psychological Depth: Professional psychologists served as advisors to ensure the depiction of Ray’s trauma and grief is handled with realistic complexity.

    Reception and Feedback

Early impressions of the Steam demo have been highly positive, with players specifically praising the “hauntingly quiet” atmosphere of the farm. While some technical feedback regarding 1080p resolution caps and voice-over quality was noted, the development team has been actively addressing these issues on the Steam community forums, promising a polished 1.0 experience for the March 27 launch.

Who Are You!? is not just a horror game; it is an invitation to question the boundaries of belief and memory. As Ray Roswell digs into the dirt of his past, players will have to decide for themselves: are we truly alone, or is the truth far more terrifying?
