- The Milestone: South Korea’s premier indie game festival, INDIECRAFT, celebrates its 10th anniversary.
- The Prize: Grand Prize for the domestic category raised to 40 million KRW (approx. $30,000).
- The Tech: Launch of a dedicated AI Support Program for 3D asset creation and productivity.
- The Venue: A high-profile offline exhibition at Hyundai Department Store Pangyo in partnership with GXG 2026.
The Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency and the Korea Mobile Game Association have officially signed an agreement to co-host INDIECRAFT 2026. As the event marks a decade of fostering the Korean indie ecosystem, organizers have unveiled a suite of aggressive support measures designed to catapult local developers onto the global stage.
Ten Years of Fostering the “Soul of Gaming”
Since its inception in 2017, INDIECRAFT has evolved from a local contest into a national pillar for the indie scene. Its influence is backed by impressive data: over the past two years, more than 68,000 visitors have attended its offline exhibitions held in conjunction with the GXG festival. Last year’s event saw a record-breaking 292 entries, signaling a surge in creative output within the Korean indie sector.
Major Upgrades for 2026
To honor the 10th anniversary, the support structure for selected developers has been significantly revamped:
| Category | Upgrade Description |
| Prize Pool | The Top 1 domestic prize has been boosted to 40 million KRW, the highest in the event’s history. |
| AI Support | A new curriculum focusing on AI-driven 3D creation platforms and lectures to enhance small-team productivity. |
| Global Reach | Expanded booth space and dedicated networking programs at Gamescom (Germany). |
| Business Matching | A split track system for “Domestic Focused” vs. “International Expert” matching to ensure precise publisher fit. |
Bringing Indie to the Mainstream: Hyundai Department Store Pangyo
In a move to increase public exposure, the 2026 exhibition will move to a special space within Hyundai Department Store Pangyo, one of Korea’s busiest shopping hubs.
For the first time, INDIECRAFT will partner with Pleaders, a professional Focus Group Testing (FGT) firm. Experts will conduct on-site evaluations, providing developers with high-level feedback and credible performance metrics that can be used for future investment pitches.
“INDIECRAFT has grown as an open platform alongside our indie developers,” said Lee Deok-hee, Strategic Industry Division Head at the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency. “This year, we are strengthening our support to ensure more developers can confidently knock on the doors of the global market.”
Timeline and Applications
The official call for entries for INDIECRAFT 2026 is scheduled to begin in late March. Detailed information will be available on the newly launched official website.
