Echoes of Loss: Acclaimed Philippine Indie Hit ‘Until Then’ Announces ‘Afterimages’ DLC and Xbox Launch

    By Editorial Team2026년 03월 01일3 Mins Read
    • Overwhelmingly Positive: Boasting a 97% positive rating on Steam, the Filipino masterpiece prepares to expand its narrative world.
    • New Narrative Chapters: Two deeply personal stories focusing on Sofia and Mark’s lives following the central catastrophe.
    • Platform Expansion: Finally arriving on Xbox Series X|S alongside the DLC release in 2026.

Philippine indie powerhouse Polychroma Games is set to return to the vibrant, glitch-ridden streets of Metro Manila. During a recent announcement by publisher Maximum Entertainment, the studio officially revealed Afterimages, a brand-new DLC expansion for their globally acclaimed narrative adventure, Until Then.

Healing Through Memories: What is ‘Afterimages’?

The Afterimages DLC explores the “quiet persistence of life” following the game’s reality-shattering events. Rather than a simple side story, the expansion serves as a bridge into the characters’ college years, focusing on the weight of what was left behind.

    • Sofia’s Journey: Players follow Sofia as she returns to her hometown, navigating the bittersweet space between nostalgic landscapes and the ghosts of her past.
    • Mark’s Reunion: Mark navigates the delicate territory of reconnecting with an old friend while discovering that everyone—including himself—has moved on in unexpected ways.
    • New Interactive Layers: The DLC introduces “Tarot Card Reading” to glimpse into the characters’ psyches, a “Baking Mini-game” to share moments of warmth, and expanded smartphone features including dating apps and video platforms.

The Original Masterpiece: A Look Back

Released in 2024, Until Then captivated audiences with its 2.5D pixel-art rendition of a fictional 2014 Philippines. It tells the story of Mark Borja and his friends as they navigate typical high school life—social media, exams, and romance—while the world around them begins to fragment due to a mysterious phenomenon known as “The Ruling.”

The game has maintained an “Overwhelmingly Positive” (97%) rating on Steam with over 8,000 reviews, earning a reputation as one of the most emotionally resonant indie titles of the decade.

A Milestone for Southeast Asian Gaming

The announcement of the Afterimages DLC and the Xbox port marks a complete global circuit for Until Then. Since its debut, the title has become a beacon for the Southeast Asian indie scene, winning multiple “Game of the Year” awards at local festivals and securing nominations at the GLAAD Media and TIGA Awards.

By bringing the story to the Xbox ecosystem, Polychroma Games ensures that its uniquely Filipino yet universally relatable story of nostalgia and healing reaches the widest possible audience.
