‘Mycopunk’, a 4-Player Co-op Shooter Facing a Mold Threat, Officially Released

Mycopunk, a cooperative sci-fi shooter game distributed by Devolver Digital and developed by Pigeons at Play, was officially released on PC (Steam) and PS5 on October 20.

Mycopunk, which debuted in Early Access last July, has reached its official 1.0 version after improving its quality through numerous large-scale updates based on user feedback over the course of about a year. With this official launch, the PS5 version, which had been shrouded in secrecy, has also been revealed for the first time, drawing the attention of console gamers as well.

Cleaning crew deployed to a mold-covered satellite

‘Mycopunk’ is a game that combines squad-based shooting action with mischievous humor and a unique sci-fi worldview. As an unidentified fungus takes over the satellite New Atlas, players embark on a mission as a cleanup crew dispatched to eliminate it.

According to the Steam page, players are robotic scavengers hired by the corporation SAXON. After forming a team and equipping combat gear, they must descend onto the satellite surface to eliminate the fungal threat. Co-op play supports up to four players.

Weapon combinations with grid upgrades

Weapon customization is at the heart of combat. You can create your own unique weapon by selecting from a variety of futuristic weapons and enhancing their performance through a grid-based upgrade system. It is also possible to form different synergy builds by combining abilities and weapon configurations with your teammates.

It is especially important to quickly deal with swarming enemies, as other enemies can pick up enemy fragments and grow larger and stronger.

After completing the mission, you return to the orbital transport ‘HUB’ to prepare for the next operation. The developers introduced that they have prepared mini-games, entertainment, and hidden secrets here.

1.0 Update, New Guns, Characters, and Even a ‘Hat’

The official release version added new weapons, grenades, modes, maps, and characters. Along with the new content, the developers also introduced the ability to put hats on characters.

The domestic launch price of ‘Mycopunk’ is 16,500 won, and the PS5 version will be available immediately on the same day to PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) Extra and Premium subscribers at no additional cost.
