Become a game expert in just 9 months… Game Talent Institute drastically shortens training period.
* AI is essential, curriculum overhaul… Applications open until February 10th
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) have begun recruiting students for the 8th batch of the ‘Game Talent Institute’, which has completely revamped its curriculum to respond to rapid technological changes in the game industry.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 4th, the Game Talent Institute will select a total of 60 trainees (approximately 20 from each department) in three fields: game planning, game art, and game programming, by noon on March 10th. Selected trainees will receive free, practical game development training for nine months, from April to December.
AI utilization becomes mandatory, training period shortened to nine months
The most significant change in this 8th course is the significant shortening of the training period from two years to nine months. This measure reflects the rapidly changing development environment driven by the rapid spread of artificial intelligence (AI) technology across the gaming industry.
The Game Talent Institute has defined AI-based game development as an essential competency, not an optional one, and mandated the use of AI in all development projects. The proportion of AI used in the curriculum has also been increased by 20%. The institute has also significantly strengthened its educational content, reflecting the latest technological trends in areas such as indie game design, AI art, and AI literacy.
The training is conducted full-time, five days a week, and consists of a practical curriculum that gradually carries out team-based game development projects through collaboration between departments, following theoretical and practical training in each major.
Fully free training with state-of-the-art development infrastructure
The biggest advantage of the Game Talent Institute is that tuition is completely free. Furthermore, students have free access to industry-level development infrastructure, including high-spec workstations, the latest game development software, virtual reality (VR) equipment, and generative AI tools.
The faculty is also impressive. Current developers from major Korean game companies like Nexon, Netmarble, and Krafton serve as instructors and mentors, imparting their expertise from real-world development.
The success of this practical training is evidenced by the employment rate. The Game Talent Institute has a cumulative employment rate of 73% in game companies, with most graduates moving on to major domestic game companies.
Application qualifications and selection process, business briefing to be held on February 11th.
Applicants must have been born before March 31, 2008, and those with game production experience or development knowledge will be given preference. Selection will be made through a first-round document screening and a second-round face-to-face evaluation (test and interview).
Applications will be accepted online through the Korea Creative Content Agency’s business management system from February 4th to March 10th at noon. To facilitate applicants’ understanding, the Game Talent Center will hold an informational session at 2:00 PM on February 11th in the multipurpose hall of the Pangyo Game Talent Center Campus 1.
An official from the Game Talent Institute stated, “In the rapidly changing gaming industry environment, the ability to develop games using AI has now become essential,” and added, “We plan to cultivate professional talent who will lead the gaming industry through intensive, practical training.”
