    ‘SlashZero’: A High-Octane 3D Anime Roguelite Revealed

    When the creator of Diablo puts his weight behind an indie project, the industry listens. During GDC 2026, publisher Skystone Games and developer Streetlamp Studio officially unveiled SlashZero, a visually stunning 3D anime roguelite that aims to bridge the gap between indie creativity and AAA production values.

    The Path of the ‘Timehacker’

    In SlashZero, players step into the role of a Timehacker, a warrior capable of navigating a world where the fabric of time has collapsed. Trapped in an unstable time loop, you must jump through shattered timelines and parallel realities to track down the source of the decay: the Lord of the Void.

    The narrative promises a deep dive into a cyberpunk mystery, where every run reveals new fragments of history that were thought to be lost forever.

    Breaking the 2D Barrier

    While many side-scrolling roguelites stick to 2D pixel art, SlashZero pushes into the “Triple-I” space with high-fidelity 3D animation.

    • Vertical Combat: Unlike traditional brawlers, combat in SlashZero is designed around verticality. Players can utilize air dashes, wall-runs, and complex aerial combos to juggle enemies in mid-air.
    • Procedural Mastery: Every dungeon is procedurally generated, offering unique layouts and hazard combinations.
    • Deep Customization: A variety of “Hacking” skills and power-ups allow players to craft a distinct combat style, from heavy-hitting charge attacks to lightning-fast speed builds.

    The David Brevik Connection

    The involvement of Skystone Games adds a layer of prestige to the project. Co-founded by David Brevik (the mastermind behind the original Diablo and Diablo II), the publisher focuses on “hidden gems” that offer unique gameplay loops.

    SlashZero joins a roster of distinctive titles like Mistfall Hunter and Crystal of Atlan, further establishing Skystone’s reputation for picking indie projects with massive mainstream potential.
