AFI (CEO Oh-Hyun Kwon), the operator of the global game server SaaS platform BACKND, announced on the 11th that it will participate in ‘Gamescom 2025’, which will be held in Cologne, Germany from August 20th to 24th (local time), with a solo booth.

At this exhibition, Ddeukkeut will showcase “Worlds,” a server infrastructure service for developing massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. Worlds provides a persistent server environment that maintains the game world even after players disconnect, along with an API for implementing it. By automating complex processes like real-time synchronization, server expansion, and data management, even developers without server expertise can create a stable MMO environment.
In particular, developers no longer need to handle cumbersome server setup tasks such as network engine, database handling, scaling-out architecture, cloud setup, deployment, and monitoring. This allows for a smoother gameplay experience in large-scale MMORPGs where user interaction is crucial or in fast-paced action games. Objects and game environment data are synchronized in real time through the network engine, ensuring that all players experience the same game state, even in high-concurrent environments.
The game’s world demo was first revealed at GDC 2025 in March, receiving rave reviews from developers. At Gamescom, the developer plans to showcase an improved version that reflects feedback and accelerate its push into European developers.
AFI CEO Kwon Oh-hyun said, “MMO game development still has high technological barriers, but by utilizing ‘World,’ large-scale multiplayer games can be created without the burden of building infrastructure,” and “We will create an environment where developers around the world can freely create MMO games.”
Meanwhile, since its official launch in 2018, Dwikkeut has offered a variety of features that even beginners without server knowledge can easily use. It features over 30 asynchronous server features essential for game development and operation, including “Dwikkeut Base,” a real-time chat feature called “Dwikkeut Chat,” multiplayer matchmaking called “Dwikkeut Match,” and server program creation features called “Dwikkeut Function.” The company will also continue its support for indie game developers by sponsoring the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC), held in Busan from August 15th to 17th.
