Webzen (CEO Kim Tae-young) participates in Steam’s ‘Next Fest 2023’ with the indie turn-based strategy RPG ‘REMORE: INFESTED KINGDOM (hereinafter referred to as ‘Remore’),’ which is being developed by Black Anchor Studio.
Steam ‘Next Fest’ is an event where members from hundreds of countries worldwide can access and experience PC games by selecting selected games to be released and showcasing demo versions. It’s a festival.
This Steam ‘Next Fest’ will be held from 10:00 am on June 19 to 10:00 am on June 26 based on PDT (Pacific Daylight Savings Time) and will be held for one week from 2:00 am on the 20th in Korean time. Anyone who is a Steam member can participate in the ‘Lemore’ demo.
‘Remore’ is a ‘turn-based strategy RPG’ made into a game about the process of surviving the mutants that appeared along with disasters in the background of a fictional European kingdom. Based on 2D dot graphics that clearly reveal the gloomy worldview, it is characterized by adding survival elements such as jumping into dangerous places to find supplies and recovering from damage in the ‘hideout’ with acquired materials to the characteristics of the turn-based strategic RPG genre.
In addition, the ‘Fog of War’ and ‘Line of Sight’ systems are designed to distract enemies whose movements are unpredictable or to install barriers so that users can have a variety of strategies.
In the demo version presented at this ‘Next Fest,’ you can experience 3 stages, including tutorials, for free until the end of the event, using 3 characters and 12 types of weapons: Wandering Knight, Stranger, and Militia. During the event, two languages, English and Korean, will be supported, and live streaming from the developer will also be held.
Meanwhile, Webzen announced the signing of a global publishing contract for ‘Remore’ with Black Anchor Studio, an indie game developer, in March and is currently accelerating the completion of development with the goal of releasing Steam Early Access in the second half of this year. When ‘Remore’ was first unveiled under the name ‘Before the Dawn’ at the ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC)’ in 2020, it drew attention to its originality and differentiated system. Then, in 2021, it won the Gold Prize in the production category at the ‘Global Indie Game Production Contest (GIGDC).’
