‘Brigador Killers’, developed over 10 years, launches with 100,000 wishlist entries.

    By Editorial Team2026년 08월 24일5 Mins Read
    • Completed after 10 years of development, a destructive tactical action game combining infantry and vehicle warfare.
    • Launches Early Access, Buoyed by Surpassing 100,000 Wishlist Items and 93% Positive Demo Reviews

Stellar Jockeys, an independent game studio in Chicago, USA, has officially released ‘Brigador Killers’, a sequel to the cult classic game series Brigador, on Steam and GOG Early Access.

Released with over 100,000 wishlists, this title builds upon the series’ signature destructive isometric combat and presents a more expanded battlefield than its predecessor by adding infantry action, vehicle combat, armory construction, base development, and a more flexible mission structure.

Rebels fighting against corporate occupying forces, from infantry to vehicle warfare

‘Brigador Killers’ is set on the planet Mar Nosso, where corporate forces exert powerful dominance. Players become members of Team Anchor, a rebel unit operating behind enemy lines, and fight against the corporate occupation forces.

Combat takes place across both foot and vehicle routes. Players can engage enemies directly using a variety of weapons, as well as seize or capture vehicles on the battlefield to control themselves. Furthermore, by building their own arsenal and strengthening their forces, they will directly declare war on the entrepreneurs who rule Mar Noso.

The game maintains the tactical destruction and overwhelming firepower that defined its predecessor, Brigador: Up-Armored Edition, while significantly increasing the density of the action. You can fight as infantry and, if necessary, hop into a heavily armored vehicle to sweep across the battlefield, and you can quickly switch strategies depending on the combat situation.

As the mission progresses, the streets of Mar Noso are destroyed by various weapons and explosions, and the player transforms the entire city into a battlefield alongside giant mechanical weapons.

Extraction-style survival elements combining resource management and equipment crafting

‘Brigador Killers’ is characterized by combining deadly gunfights with survival and resource management elements typical of the extraction genre.

Players must collect resources on the battlefield and efficiently manage their limited inventory, and can craft or upgrade equipment between missions.

In the Early Access version, the progression structure that was pointed out in the previous Alpha and Demo builds has also been significantly improved.

In the previous version, there was an issue where the significance of difficulty and progression was weakened because mid-to-high-end equipment was relatively easily accessible from the beginning; however, in this version, the progression structure has been redesigned so that higher-tier weapons can only be used after clearing missions of higher difficulty.

Vehicles are not freely available from the start either. You must complete a certain level of the initial missions at Angel Base to use them, and they become essential for traveling to new bases thereafter.

Through a structure that requires considering not only combat but also resource acquisition, equipment management, and base expansion, it offers deeper strategic gameplay that goes beyond a simple action game.

From 93% positive on demo to ‘mixed’ rating after Early Access launch

‘Brigador Killers’ has garnered significant attention, with the demo released prior to the official Early Access launch recording a 93% positive rating based on over 400 reviews.

However, reviews compiled on Steam immediately after the official Early Access launch are somewhat mixed. Based on 334 initial reviews, the positive rating is 62%, and it is currently rated ‘Mixed’.

Overseas media outlet Game8 gave a positive evaluation of the game’s atmosphere and combat experience, stating, “Even basic resource gathering missions or errand quests carry real weight thanks to the game’s unique, uninhibited, and high-intensity vibe.”

Developer Stellar Jockeys expects the early access period for ‘Brigador Killers’ to continue until at least the end of 2026 and plans to share development progress through monthly development logs.

The difference in evaluation between the demo and the official Early Access version appears to be influenced by balance adjustments and system changes currently underway during Early Access. It remains to be seen how initial evaluations will change with future content additions and system improvements.

Makeup and Vanity Set returns with a raw industrial sound

Composer Makeup and Vanity Set, who have expressed the series’ gritty and heavy industrial atmosphere through music, also returned to this title. Through the original soundtrack, he captured the atmosphere of a corporate dystopia, a ruined city, and a violent battlefield created by mechanical weaponry.

Just as the game’s scale and systems have expanded compared to its predecessor, the music is also composed around more aggressive sounds and cold digital synths. It presents a rougher and more overwhelming sound to match the game’s atmosphere, which features intense combat and mechanical destruction.

‘Brigador Killers’ is receiving high interest immediately upon its Early Access release, as it is a sequel that fans of the previous game have been waiting a long time for.

In particular, as it was launched with over 100,000 wishlist items, it is expected that there will be continued interest in the future development process.

However, given the significant difference in evaluation between the demo and early access versions, the main challenge ahead of the official 1.0 release is how much the game’s quality can be improved through future balance adjustments and content updates.
