Stupid Never Dies Launches on PC and PS5: Capcom Veterans’ Pop-Punk Zombie Action RPG Arrives With a Live-Action Prequel and an 80-Track Soundtrack

    By Editorial Team2026년 10월 24일5 Mins Read

A timid zombie at the bottom of monster society falls in love at first sight with a girl frozen solid in a shopping mall freezer, and decides to bring her back. Stupid Never Dies, the new action RPG from SEGA and Japanese developer GPTRACK50, is finally out on PC and PlayStation 5.

GPTRACK50 announced that the game launched worldwide on October 21, with official sales in its home market of Japan beginning a day later, on October 22.

Alongside the launch, the studio released Julia Never Dies, a live-action prequel about the game’s key character, Julia. It reveals how she ended up frozen in an ice cream freezer at an apocalyptic shopping mall.

What Happened to Julia? A Live-Action Prequel

The live-action prequel Julia Never Dies takes an unusual approach to setting up the main story.

In the game, protagonist Davy falls head over heels for Julia the moment he finds her frozen inside a freezer in a ruined mall. The video focuses on what Julia went through before she met Davy.

Julia appears as a rifle-wielding cheerleader, battling mysterious monsters in a dying world. Through stylish live-action combat, the video tells the gripping backstory of how she wound up locked in a mall ice cream shop’s freezer after a desperate fight for survival.

This bridge between game and live-action footage signals GPTRACK50’s long-term ambition: to grow Stupid Never Dies beyond a single game into an original IP spanning multiple media.

    Eat Enemies, Steal Their Powers

Stupid Never Dies is a 3D action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by monsters. Players take on the role of Davy, a timid zombie at the bottom of monster society, on a quest to revive the frozen Julia.

At its core is the Style Eat system. Davy eats enemies such as werewolves, harpies, and vampires to restore health and absorb their abilities. With more than 11 Styles available, players can switch fighting styles to suit the situation.

Body Hacking lets players directly modify Davy’s body. Using “over-technology” found in dungeons, they can upgrade his arms, legs, and head and add new abilities.

Progression also breaks from the usual action RPG mold. Every dungeon run starts back at level 1, but the more enemies you defeat in previous runs, the more experience you earn. With each run, you level up faster and take on stronger foes.

    An 80-Track Pop-Punk Soundtrack

Music, one of the game’s defining features, has also been released as a standalone soundtrack.

The Stupid Never Dies Original Soundtrack features 80 tracks, including two theme songs. Centered on the pop punk that runs throughout the game, it captures the game’s fast, over-the-top energy. The soundtrack launched alongside the game on major streaming services including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

GPTRACK50 has previously explained that music was a core element from the start of development: the team wrote Davy’s theme song first, then built the game’s atmosphere around the inspiration it provided.

    DLC and a Deluxe Edition

The TickTock Teddies: Nonsense Overload Pack DLC also went on sale at launch.

The base game costs $49.99, while Stupid Never Dies: Glorious Idiot Edition, which includes the DLC, is $59.99. The DLC alone costs $11.99.

Subtitles are available in Korean, English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, and more.

The First Original IP From Capcom Veterans

GPTRACK50 was founded in Osaka in 2022 by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who worked on Resident Evil, Sengoku Basara, and Dino Crisis. Its team includes veteran developers from the Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, and Resident Evil series.

“After about three years of breathing life — or rather, death — into Davy, I’m thrilled we can finally share Stupid Never Dies with the world,” said GPTRACK50 CEO Hiroyuki Kobayashi. “Thank you to everyone who wishlisted the game, played the demo, and sent us feedback.”

GPTRACK50 plans to expand its original IP beyond games into live-action video, animation, and other media, and Julia Never Dies is part of that strategy.

Stupid Never Dies is available now on PC (Steam) and PS5. The First Bite demo, which introduces the game’s world and combat, remains available, and demo save data carries over to the full game.

    Who This Is For

Strong fit for: action RPG fans who love absorbing enemy powers and swapping playstyles; players who enjoy fast, roguelite-style progression across repeated runs; pop-punk fans; anyone drawn to over-the-top, comedic horror; followers of Capcom-veteran projects.

Cautious fit for: players expecting traditional persistent leveling, since each dungeon run resets to level 1.

Less ideal for: those looking for serious, grounded survival horror in the vein of the team’s Resident Evil pedigree; this is gleefully absurd.

    What to Watch For

Launch reviews will reveal whether Style Eat, Body Hacking, and the run-based leveling system hold up over a full playthrough. Watch also for how GPTRACK50 builds out its multimedia IP plans following Julia Never Dies, and what further DLC follows the TickTock Teddies pack.

    The Takeaway

Stupid Never Dies is the kind of swing that only seasoned developers with nothing left to prove tend to take: a lovesick zombie, a frozen cheerleader, enemy-eating powers, body hacking, an 80-track pop-punk soundtrack, and a live-action prequel to boot. Three years in the making, GPTRACK50’s first original IP arrives with SEGA’s backing and a clear ambition to become much more than one game.

Available now on PC (Steam) and PS5.
